The Council on Recovery provides prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and recovery services for alcoholism, drug abuse, and co-occurring mental health disorders in Houston, serving all ages through programs from new mothers to the elderly. Its Center for Recovering Families offers holistic outpatient treatment that addresses the body, mind, and spirit and includes family involvement and services for uninsured or under-resourced clients. As Houston’s oldest and largest nonprofit in this field, it combines public funding, United Way support, private contributions, grants, and fees to offer broad access and no-one-left-behind care. Its goal is to help individuals personally recover and to rejoin their families and communities in a healthy, loving, and supportive way.
