Third Wave Automation creates intelligent automation for warehouses. It develops autonomous high-reach forklifts (TWA Reach and TWA Extended Reach) and a Shared Autonomy Platform that lets AI-powered systems and human operators work together. The forklifts operate in four modes—fully autonomous, remote operation, remote assistance, and traditional manual—so they can fit into existing warehouse workflows without costly changes. The Armada Fleet Management System lets a single remote operator monitor and control multiple forklifts. The company licenses software via subscriptions and offers Robots-as-a-Service to avoid large upfront costs. By combining AI, machine learning, and flexible deployment, its goal is to boost warehouse throughput, efficiency, and safety while keeping human workers off the floor and out of hazardous areas.

Third Wave Automation has secured $27 million in Series C funding to expand its autonomous forklift operations. Their Shared Autonomy Platform allows forklifts to function in four modes: fully autonomous, remote assist, remote operation, and manual. This flexibility enables the machines to adapt to various warehouse layouts and tasks, while still allowing human intervention when necessary.
In October 2024, robotics investments reached $7.4 billion across 77 funding rounds, led by Waymo's $5.6 billion raise, marking the largest single round of the year. The total investment from January to October 2024 exceeded $20 billion. Autonomous driving tech companies dominated, with significant investments in Waymo, WeRide ($320 million), and Didi Woya ($298 million). The U.S. and China led in investment rounds, with the U.S. securing $6.4 billion and China $873 million.
Led by CEO Arshan Poursohi, Third Wave Automation empowers materials handling automation with its Shared Autonomy platform, enabling the TWA Reach line of forklifts to operate autonomously or seek help from remote operators who can take control from the safety of their office.
