Ticketek Entertainment Group raises A$100m from its lenders - report.

Ticketek Entertainment Group raises A$100m from its lenders - report. Ticketek parent company Ticketek Entertainment Group (TEG) has reportedly raised A$100m (£52m/€61m/$70.5m) from its lenders to target its rivals, following the loss of key ticketing contracts. According to a report from the Australian Financial Review, citing those with knowledge of the talks, month-long discussions with TEG's lenders led to the boost which has also been described as Ticketek's "one final chance". However its majority owner, private equity giant Silver Lake, did not provide any further funding. TEG's banks, which were already owed around A$1bn according to the report, chipped in roughly A$100m so that new chief executive Cameron Hoy could bid for upcoming contracts. The report added that Silver Lake was involved in the capital-raising talks, despite not contributing, and it is expected that the fresh debt will grant lenders additional rights. Silver Lake secured a majority stake in TEG nearly seven years ago. A TEG spokesperson told the publication that it had "raised additional financing from existing investors". "This will strengthen our balance sheet and allow us to invest further in delivering a massive pipeline of live entertainment, driving growth across the business, and continuing to invest in technology for our partners and fans." TheTicketingBusiness has reached out to TEG for comment. As Australia's largest ticketing provider, Ticketek has partnerships in place with the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium and Sydney's newly renamed Afterpay Arena. However, last year, Ticketek lost its ticketing contract with Venues NSW to Ticketmaster, which included Sydney Cricket Ground, Accor Stadium, CommBank Stadium, Allianz Stadium and Penrith Stadium. The contract for Melbourne Parks, which included events at Rod Laver Arena, AAMI Park, John Cain Arena and Margaret Court Arena, was then won by AXS in April. Sydney's Hordern Pavilion also made the switch to AXS last month. Internationally, its UK business is facing the possibility of losing the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham contract after bosses invited Expressions of Interest from ticketing providers, ahead of a forthcoming ticketing services tender. Ticketek had first signed a deal with the venue in February 2023. In June, following the exit of Brad Banducci and the appointment of Hoy as CEO, it was also reported that TEG would undergo a restructuring and cost-cutting project. According to AFR, TEG had roughly $950m in borrowings as of June 30 last year, including a primary and fully drawn $940m loan and a mostly drawn $110m line of credit. Its bank loans were interest-bearing and would mature in December 2030, according to accounts, while the line of credit would mature in 2028.

TEG raises $100M to take on Ticketmaster after losing key government contracts

TEG, the parent company of Ticketek, has secured $100 million in funding from its lenders to strengthen its position against competitors like Ticketmaster. The funding comes as super senior debt following intensive negotiations between the company's American private equity backers and banking institutions. The capital raise follows TEG's recent loss of several critical contracts with government ticketing agencies. Alongside the funding, TEG has appointed a new chief executive as part of efforts to revitalise the company. The additional resources are intended to help TEG stabilise operations, enhance innovation capabilities, and pursue aggressive competitive tactics. The move comes as the company faces an increasingly challenging ticketing industry dominated by large players like Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster.

Melvin Koh named General Manager, Ticketing Asia at TEG's Ticketek. June 1, 2026 Melvin Koh has been appointed General Manager, Ticketing Asia at Ticketek, the ticketing division of Silver Lake-backed Ticketek Entertainment Group (TEG). Koh will be based in Singapore, leading Ticketek's operations, strategic partnerships and platform growth across the region as TEG accelerates its presence in Asia. The appointment was announced on Monday (June 1). Koh brings more than 18 years of experience across sports, entertainment, venue management, commercial strategy and ticketing. Most recently, he held a senior leadership role at the Singapore Sports Hub, where he established the Ticketing and Access Management function and shaped its strategy and operating model. His background encompasses both venue and promoter operations - a dual perspective that TEG says positions him well to represent Ticketek's platform to venues, promoters and rightsholders across Asia. "The live entertainment market in this region is growing rapidly, and venues, promoters and rights holders are increasingly looking for a technology and data platform that can keep pace with that growth." Melvin Koh, Ticketek "The opportunity to lead Ticketek's growth ambitions in Asia from Singapore is one I'm genuinely excited about," said Koh. "I look forward to working with our partners and the broader TEG team to deliver measurable impact across every touchpoint of the live experience." Cameron Hoy, Chief Executive Officer at TEG, said: "Melvin's appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to Asia, a region LivDose has operated in for many decades. "Melvin brings deep experience across both venue and promoter operations, precisely the perspective needed to represent the full breadth of Ticketek's ticketing, digital marketing and data capabilities to its partners across the region. "We are delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to the exciting new chapter ahead." "Melvin brings deep experience across both venue and promoter operations, precisely the perspective needed to represent the full breadth of Ticketek's ticketing, digital marketing and data capabilities to our partners across the region." Cameron Hoy, TEG Hoy was promoted to CEO of TEG effective June 1 - the same day as Koh's appointment - after Brad Banducci stepped down from the role after just over a year. Hoy joined Ticketek Australia in 2007 and served as TEG's Chief Operating Officer and Head of Global Ticketing since December 2023. Koh's hire comes as competition in Asian ticketing intensifies. Last October, AEG subsidiary AXS agreed to take a majority stake in Singapore-based ticketing platform SISTIC, expanding its presence in the city-state and Southeast Asia. TEG says it is one of Asia Pacific's largest live entertainment and ticketing companies, selling over 30 million tickets per year for more than 300 venues across 15 countries. Silicon Valley-based technology investment firm Silver Lake acquired TEG in 2019. TEG brings together Ticketek, TEG Live, TEG Sport, TEG Experiences and Ovation to create, promote and power live entertainment across concerts, sporting events, festivals and exhibitions.Music Business Worldwide
