Tractor Supply Company planning Grand Rapids location.

Tractor Supply Company planning Grand Rapids location. * Staff Report Herald Review * Aug 12, 2026 Updated 14 hrs ago * 0 GRAND RAPIDS - Tractor Supply Company is planning to open its first location in Grand Rapids, with construction expected to begin later this month and the store slated to open in early 2027. The new 22,130-square-foot store will be built at 1111 S. Pokegama Ave. as part of a build-to-suit development by CMK Properties, a Tennessee-based commercial real estate investment and development firm. The company announced this week that it has closed on the property and will develop the retail location for Tractor Supply. According to CMK Properties, construction is expected to begin in August and be completed in early 2027. Once open, the store will offer products for farming, ranching, pet care, gardening, home improvement and outdoor living, serving customers from Grand Rapids and surrounding communities across northern Minnesota. John Hopfensperger, founder and CEO of CMK Properties, said Grand Rapids was selected because of its role as a regional center and its connection to agriculture, forestry and outdoor recreation. "Our goal is to identify markets where national retailers can establish a long-term presence while meeting the needs of growing communities," Hopfensperger said in a news release. "Grand Rapids represents another strong opportunity to deliver a high-quality development for Tractor Supply, and we're excited to continue building on the successful relationship we've developed over the years." The developer said Grand Rapids' growing residential base and position as a commercial hub for northern Minnesota made it an attractive location for the retailer's continued expansion. Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, CMK Properties specializes in build-to-suit commercial developments for national retailers. The company said it has developed projects in 21 states, focusing on single-tenant retail properties. Tractor Supply Company, also headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, is the nation's largest rural lifestyle retailer. The company operates stores across the United States, offering agricultural supplies, livestock and pet products, tools, workwear, lawn and garden equipment, fencing and other merchandise geared toward rural and suburban homeowners, farmers and outdoor enthusiasts. Additional details, including the project's total investment, hiring plans and construction schedule, have not yet been announced. (0 Ratings) Load comments Newsletters.

Tractor Supply slashes 2026 outlook as demand weakens and costs rise

Tractor Supply Company cut its 2026 outlook and withdrew its long-term financial framework following a second-quarter earnings miss. The company now expects net sales growth of 2.5%-3.5%, down from a prior forecast of 4%-6%, and comparable sales ranging from a 1% decline to flat, versus previously expected 1%-3% growth. Adjusted earnings guidance was reduced to $1.90-$2.00 per share from $2.13-$2.23. Second-quarter adjusted earnings of 81 cents per share missed estimates of 83 cents, whilst net sales rose 2.3% to $4.5 billion but fell short of the $4.6 billion consensus. Comparable-store sales declined 1.5% as softer discretionary spending and May weakness in big-ticket items offset positive performance in April and June. Adjusted operating margin guidance dropped to 8.5%-8.8% from 9.3%-9.6%, pressured by higher costs.

Rural lifestyle retailer takes over former Rite Aid location in Bend.

Rural lifestyle retailer takes over former Rite Aid location in Bend. Published 11:05 am Friday, August 7, 2026 The new Tractor Supply Co. is being transformed from the former Rite Aid on southeast 3rd Street in Bend on Thursday. (Dean Guernsey/The Bulletin) Bend residents won't need to own a tractor to shop at Tractor Supply Co. The rural lifestyle retailer plans to open its first Bend location with a soft opening targeted for Oct. 17, followed by a grand opening Oct. 24, according to Redmond store manager David Lockard. The dates could shift slightly as construction continues. The Bend store - located close to Grocery Outlet on Third Street - will become Tractor Supply's second location in Central Oregon, joining the company's Redmond store that opened early this year. The Bend location had been previously occupied by Rite Aid. Despite its name, Tractor Supply sells far more than equipment for farmers. The stores carry livestock and pet feed, animal health products, workwear, hardware, lawn and garden supplies, outdoor equipment and country-style home décor. The Bend location also will include the company's popular self-service dog wash stations. "It's funny. You think 'Tractor Supply' and assume it's all about tractors," Lockard said. "It's really more about the animals, the feed, the lifestyle." The store also sells live chicks. But Lockard says some of the most popular items are actually the steel chicken yard ornaments. "They sell like crazy, the six-foot steel chickens. We can't keep them in the store. They are just gone as soon as we get them," Lockard said. Lockard said the company believes Bend is a good fit because of its mix of hobby farmers, back yard chicken owners, and residents looking after animals on small acreages. "You see a lot of people raising chicks, alpacas, goats and doing a lot of that type of stuff," he said. "Bend is definitely needing one." The new store is expected to create 16 or 17 jobs initially. Hiring for assistant managers is underway, with recruiting for additional supervisors and store employees expected to ramp up in the coming weeks. The Bend location is part of Tractor Supply's broader expansion across Oregon. Lockard said the company expects to grow from roughly six Oregon stores to about 16 statewide by the end of 2026, although he noted those plans are determined by company leadership. Based in Tennessee, Tractor Supply operates more than 2,000 stores nationwide, with its largest presence in the eastern and Midwestern United States. In recent years, the retailer has been steadily expanding its footprint on the West Coast. About michael Kohn.
