Coinbase has acquired Utopia Labs, a stablecoin payment processor, to enhance onchain payments within Coinbase Wallet and Base, its Layer 2 network. Despite Utopia Labs announcing it will wind down services by November 6, 2023, CEO Kaito Cunningham clarified this is a strategic shift, not a shutdown.
