Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP adds Chief Information Officer and Director of Operations to support continued growth. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, the Capital Region's largest law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of two key members of its leadership team: Jason Appel as Chief Information Officer and Amanda Iverson as Director of Operations. The appointments reflect the Firm's commitment to strengthening the leadership, systems, and resources necessary to support a dynamic and evolving legal practice. With over 120 attorneys spanning more than 20 practice groups, Whiteman Osterman & Hanna continues to invest in the operational and technological capabilities that enhance client service, support its attorneys, and position the Firm for the future. As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Appel will oversee the Firm's technology strategy, cybersecurity initiatives, IT infrastructure, and technology operations. He brings more than 20 years of experience leading enterprise technology and cybersecurity initiatives across complex, highly regulated organizations. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Appel served as Director of Technology, Infrastructure and Interim Co-Chief Information Officer at the Center for Disability Services and currently serves as a cybersecurity lecturer at the University at Albany. In her role as Director of Operations, Ms. Iverson will lead the Firm's operational functions, strategic planning initiatives, human resources efforts, and organizational development activities. She brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning professional services and higher education environments. Most recently, Ms. Iverson served as Director of Business Operations at Envision Architects, where she was responsible for financial management, business development, human resources, workforce planning, operational strategy, and organizational performance. The addition of Mr. Appel and Ms. Iverson underscores Whiteman Osterman & Hanna's commitment to investing in the people, technology, and infrastructure necessary to support exceptional client service, foster an outstanding workplace for employees, and meet the evolving needs of a modern legal practice. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP announces Emma Marshall and Matthew Mosdell as firm Associates. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, the Capital Region's largest law firm, is pleased to announce that Emma E. Marshall and Matthew D. Mosdell have joined the Firm as Associates. Emma Marshall joins the Firm's Environmental and Land Use & Development Practice Groups with experience advising clients on complex regulatory, environmental and energy matters. She has represented renewable generation and transmission developers in proceedings before the New York State Department of Public Service, including matters under Articles 10, VII and VIII, and has guided clients through the State Environmental Quality Review Act process. Her experience also includes environmental and regulatory due diligence, hazardous waste compliance and telecommunications regulatory matters. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Marshall was an associate at a regional law firm where she focused on renewable energy and infrastructure development matters. Ms. Marshall earned her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Albany Law School, where she served as an editor for the Albany Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Binghamton University. Matthew Mosdell joins the Firm's Litigation and Appeals Practice Group. He brings a broad range of experience in civil, criminal and family law matters, with a particular focus on appellate work. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Mosdell served as an Appellate Court Attorney with New York's Appellate Division, Third Department, where he prepared reports and draft decisions to assist Justices in resolving complex legal issues across a wide range of cases. His background also includes experience in general litigation, including commercial disputes, personal injury, medical malpractice and estate matters. Mr. Mosdell earned his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Albany Law School. He also holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Utah and a B.S. from Utah State University.

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP welcomes New Associate in Albany office. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP is pleased to announce that Jason R. Thomas has joined the Firm as an Associate this month. He is a member of the Firm's Land Use and Development, Real Estate, and Environmental Practice Groups, bringing experience in public sector work, regulatory analysis, and complex land use and environmental matters that strengthens the Firm's ability to guide clients through sophisticated development and real estate projects across New York State. Prior to joining the Firm, Jason ran a boutique pro bono practice assisting individuals who recently arrived in the United States and were in need of legal support, and he remains an active volunteer throughout the City of Albany. His background also includes service as an Excelsior Fellow with the New York State Department of Financial Services Health Bureau and as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany, providing him with a strong foundation in government operations and regulatory processes. Jason earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where he served as a research assistant for multiple professors, worked in the school's immigration law clinic, and interned with the Center for Internet Security, among other roles. He graduated magna cum laude from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2019 and also earned his Master of Arts from Stony Brook University while completing his undergraduate degree. Jason is admitted to practice in New York State and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Outside of his legal practice, Jason enjoys hiking, photography, music, and software development.
