Capital Region's largest law firm hires three New Associates. Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, the Capital Region's largest law firm, is proud to announce that Hannah L. Atkinson, Levi W. Jenkins and Amy G. Lorenc have joined the Firm as Associates. Atkinson joins the Firm's Land Use and Environmental Practice Groups, while Jenkins and Lorenc join the Litigation Practice Group. Hannah L. Atkinson focuses her practice on land use, environmental and municipal matters. She brings experience advising municipal and private clients on zoning, planning, land use and litigation matters, including preparing pleadings and working with municipalities to address local code, statutory and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) requirements. Prior to joining Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, Atkinson practiced as an associate at a Hudson Valley law firm, where her work focused primarily on municipal law, zoning, planning and land use, and litigation. Atkinson previously gained experience in environmental and land use law through positions with the Center for Biological Diversity's Energy Justice Program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Branch, the California Air Resources Board, the Land Use Law Center at Pace University and Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. Her work included matters involving environmental regulation, hazardous waste site cleanup and recovery actions, emissions controls, environmental justice and land use research. Atkinson earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 2024 and her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in English writing and international studies from the University of Colorado Denver in 2019. She is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the Mid-Hudson Women's Bar Association and Dutchess County Bar Association. Levi W. Jenkins joins the Firm's Litigation Practice Group with experience in real property, business, medical malpractice and general litigation matters. His practice has included counseling clients on contract interpretation, liability exposure, litigation risk and dispute resolution strategies, as well as drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, stipulations and releases. Prior to joining Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, Jenkins practiced as an associate at a Capital Region law firm. He previously served as a Senior Advisor with the New York State Senate, where he worked with industry stakeholders on issues involving healthcare and higher education, drafted and revised legislative language, and analyzed federal and state regulatory frameworks. Jenkins also gained legal experience with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, the SUNY Research Foundation and another Capital Region law firm, and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Christian F. Hummel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Jenkins earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Albany Law School, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Science and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from SUNY Oneonta in 2017. Jenkins was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2025. Amy G. Lorenc joins the Firm's Litigation Practice Group with experience in civil rights, employment, commercial and bankruptcy matters. Prior to joining Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, Lorenc worked as a contract attorney providing litigation support in civil rights and employment matters, including drafting responses to dispositive motions in federal and state courts. Lorenc previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark A. Goldsmith of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, where she drafted opinions involving contract disputes, tort claims, civil rights claims and employment matters and served as lead clerk for two major trials. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable A. Benjamin Goldgar of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Earlier in her career, Lorenc gained legal experience with the National Consumer Law Center and the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. Prior to law school, she worked at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, where she advised senior staff on banking policy and contributed to federal rulemaking. Lorenc earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2022, where she served as a Contributing Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform and as an Advanced Clinician with the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. She earned her Master of Science in applied mathematics in 2018 and her Bachelor of Science in economics and mathematics, with a minor in statistics, in 2014 from George Washington University. Lorenc is admitted to practice in New York.

He brings more than 20 years of experience leading enterprise technology and cybersecurity initiatives across complex, highly regulated organizations. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Appel served as Director of Technology, Infrastructure and Interim Co-Chief Information Officer at the Center for Disability Services and currently serves as a cybersecurity lecturer at the University at Albany. In her role as Director of Operations, Ms. Iverson will lead the Firm's operational functions, strategic planning initiatives, human resources efforts, and organizational development activities. She brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning professional services and higher education environments. Most recently, Ms. Iverson served as Director of Business Operations at Envision Architects, where she was responsible for financial management, business development, human resources, workforce planning, operational strategy, and organizational performance.
