Grocery chain pulls more products as Salmonella-linked recall grows.

Grocery chain pulls more products as Salmonella-linked recall grows. Published August 15, 2026 5:13 PM CDT NatureBest recalls more than a dozen items sold in H-E-B grocery stores and linked to a jalapeño recall. (Source: FDA) The brief. * * NatureBest recalled more than a dozen products sold at H-E-B stores. * The items were sold under the NatureBest label and H-E-B's own brand name. * The recalls are the latest involving a fresh jalapeño recall that has affected several grocery chains and restaurants. The number of foods affected by the recall on fresh jalapeños keeps growing higher as more and more products are identified. On Friday, H-E-B added nearly 20 new items to its list of recalled foods that were sold in its stores. Big picture view: The latest additions were produced by NatureBest Precut & Produce and were sold in Texas and Louisiana under the NatureBest name, as well as the H-E-B brand. According to the statement posted on the Food and Drug Administration's website, they were distributed between July 3, 2026, and August 5, 2026. NatureBest says it has stopped distributing any of the affected products. The backstory: The recall comes after NatureBest was alerted by Coast Citrus Distributors that they may contain jalapeño peppers that could be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, among other symptoms, in healthy people and more serious infections in children, seniors, or those with weakened immune systems, the statement explained. Why you should care: At least 345 people across 27 states have become infected with Salmonella that is believed to have come from the peppers, the FDA said. Many of those cases were linked to restaurants that included Qdoba and Chipotle, both of which made changes in response to the recall. The FDA has provided assurances that they do not consider either chain a risk. Several other grocery chains, including Albertsons, Kroger, Target, Walmart, and Whole Foods have been swept up by the recalls because they sold downstream products that were made with the jalapeños. Dig deeper: Like those other grocers, H-E-B had also previously recalled other items that were made with the peppers. In its latest recall notice, the company included a full list of those products as well. Dig deeper: Anyone who has the recalled NatureBest products should not consume them and can return the items to wherever they were purchased for a full refund. The Source: Information for this article was taken from the FDA, H-E-B, NatureBest, and previous coverage. This story was reported from Orlando.

Whole Foods recalls salsa, guacamole and prepared foods in 12 states over salmonella concerns.

Whole Foods recalls salsa, guacamole and prepared foods in 12 states over salmonella concerns. The recall covers products containing jalapeños linked to a broader outbreak that has sickened 345 people across 27 states. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says Americans should see more grocery price relief as egg prices fall, beef costs ease and the Trump administration pushes to lower food prices. Whole Foods announced Wednesday that it is recalling certain produce and prepared foods containing fresh jalapeño peppers supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors over potential salmonella contamination. The Food and Drug Administration said the recalled products were sold in 12 states and have "Best Before" dates ranging from Aug. 7 through Aug. 16. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled Whole Foods products, according to the FDA. The recall includes select salsas, guacamole, pico de gallo and prepared foods, Whole Foods said. A full list of affected products is available on the FDA's website. Whole Foods is recalling select salsa, guacamole, pico de gallo and prepared foods containing jalapeños over potential salmonella contamination. The products were sold in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. A Whole Foods spokesperson said Wednesday's recall was issued because the products contain jalapeños that were sourced from Coast Citrus Distributors and are connected to the distributor's recall. Some affected products were also included in a Taylor Fresh Foods recall announced Sunday. The Whole Foods action comes amid a broader salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños that has sickened 345 people and hospitalized 36 across 27 states, according to federal officials. Prior to the Whole Foods announcement, at least 18 ready-to-eat meat and poultry products had already been identified in a USDA public health alertin Sinaloa, Mexico, and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors. A multistate salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños has prompted recalls involving products sold by several major retailers and brands. (iStock / iStock) On Monday, Taylor Farms announced a recall of prepared foods containing jalapeños sold by retailers including Walmart and Whole Foods in several states over potential salmonella contamination. The FDA advised consumers who purchased any of the recalled Whole Foods products to discard them or bring a valid receipt to a Whole Foods Market store for a full refund. According to federal regulators, illnesses linked to the jalapeño outbreak began between June 19 and July 20, 2026. Officials said several major brands and retailers have been affected by the outbreak, including Taylor Farms, Deli Kitchen, H-E-B's Higher Harvest and Meal Simple brands, Marketside, Wawa, Albertsons, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Hannaford. Chipotle Mexican Grill and QDOBA also received affected jalapeños imported from Sinaloa, according to federal officials. Chipotle switched its jalapeño supplier at affected locations beginning July 20 and is no longer serving the implicated product, while QDOBA stopped using jalapeños at all of its restaurants as of July 28. Coast Citrus Distributors has agreed to recall the remaining implicated product and is no longer importing jalapeños from the grower linked to the outbreak. Food contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis, with symptoms including diarrhea, stomach cramps and fever. FOX Business' Bonny Chu and Reuters contributed to this report.

Whole Foods is coming to Westcliff Plaza - and Newport Beach locals are very excited.

Whole Foods is coming to Westcliff Plaza - and Newport Beach locals are very excited. Cassie French August 11, 2026 If you live in Newport Heights or Dover Shores, your grocery routine is about to get a serious upgrade: Whole Foods Market is officially coming to Westcliff Plaza in Newport Beach! The new Whole Foods is planned for the current Ralphs location at 1150 Irvine Avenue, near 17th Street and the intersection of Westcliff Drive and Irvine Avenue. It will join neighborhood favorites like Ace Hardware, CVS, Orangetheory Fitness and The Chicken Shop - making an already convenient local shopping center even better. And yes, Newport Heights and Dover Shores homeowners are understandably very excited about this one. A Whole Foods closer to home. Until now, local residents wanting to visit Whole Foods have typically headed to Fashion Island. That may not sound far on paper, but anyone who lives in Newport Beach knows that a "quick trip" can become a full production once traffic, parking and a few extra errands enter the chat. Especially at Fashion Island. Having a Whole Foods at Westcliff Plaza will give Newport Heights and Dover Shores residents a much more convenient option for fresh produce, natural and organic groceries, prepared foods and those lifesaving last-minute dinner ideas. The real headline, of course, may be the Whole Foods salad bar, my favorite! Sometimes dinner is homemade, and sometimes it is beautifully assembled into a compostable container five minutes before everyone asks what Cassie French is eating. Both count. Why Westcliff Plaza is the perfect location. Westcliff Plaza already functions as a neighborhood hub for residents on this side of Newport Beach. Its location near 17th Street places it close to Newport Heights, Dover Shores, Cliff Haven, Eastside Costa Mesa and several surrounding communities. It is the kind of shopping center where you can pick up a prescription, squeeze in a workout, grab lunch, stop by the hardware store and shop for groceries - all without driving across town. Adding Whole Foods Market strengthens that everyday convenience and gives local families another high-quality grocery option close to home. For nearby homeowners, easy access to desirable shopping, dining and daily services is part of what makes a neighborhood feel especially tight-knit and livable. A well-known grocer like Whole Foods coming to Westcliff Plaza is not only exciting because of what will be on the shelves; it is another amenity that adds to the lifestyle appeal of Newport Heights and Dover Shores. The community surrounding Newport Heights and Dover Shores keeps getting better with so many additional restaurants like Flecha Cantina, Bear Flag Fish Company, and other new restaurants in this blog. What Cassie French know so far. Irvine Company officially announced in May 2026 that Whole Foods Market will open a new location at Westcliff Plaza. The company described it as a future addition to the center, but an official opening date has not yet been released. So, Cassie French may have to wait a little longer before making that first salad-bar run - but it is officially on the horizon. Another reason to love living in Newport Beach. One of the best things about living in Newport Heights and Dover Shores is having a true neighborhood lifestyle while remaining close to the beach, Back Bay, local restaurants, schools and everyday conveniences. The arrival of Whole Foods at Westcliff Plaza adds one more reason these Newport Beach neighborhoods continue to be so desirable. I am personally very excited for this one. Being able to grab fresh ingredients, prepared meals or something quick for the entire family without driving to Fashion Island will be a major win for local residents. Now Cassie French just need the opening date - and perhaps a neighborhood support group for everyone who goes in for one salad and leaves with twelve snacks, fresh flowers and a new favorite sparkling water. Thinking about buying or selling a home in Newport Heights, Dover Shores or the surrounding Newport Beach neighborhoods? I would love to help you understand the local market - and all the lifestyle details that make each neighborhood unique.
