Xodus to support environmental approvals for next stage of decommissioning program. Published: 4 August 2026 Xodus Group is set to support environmental approvals for Phases 2 and 3 of the Northern Endeavour Decommissioning Program, the next stage in removing one of Australia's largest offshore oil field developments The program, delivered by Australia's Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) involves the staged decommissioning of the Laminaria-Corallina oil fields, 550km northwest of Darwin. Phase 2 involves the permanent plugging and abandonment of the Laminaria-Corallina subsea wells, whereas Phase 3 will see the decommissioning and removal of the remaining subsea infrastructure. In both phases, Xodus' scope includes environmental impact assessments, EPBC approvals support, oil spill modelling, GIS services, regulatory engagement support, and implementation planning. Phase 1 of the program, which is now complete, included the suspension of wells, the flushing of subsea infrastructure, and the disconnection and tow of the Northern Endeavour FPSO, a 274m long facility that had been permanently moored between the Laminaria and Corallina oil field. Xodus supported this phase with technical assurance and advisory support through a multi-year Technical and Project Support Services team. For Phases 2 and 3, Xodus has partnered with Elemental Consulting Services, who also contributed to Phase 1 by supporting approvals for the FPSO operations contractor. This partnership will expand on detailed understanding of Phase 1, providing continuity and utilising program knowledge. Carrie McIntosh, Xodus late life and decommissioning manager, said, "Northern Endeavour is one of the most significant decommissioning programmes under way in Asia Pacific. Our team has been involved since Phase 1 and being trusted to lead environmental approvals through to completion says a lot about the standard of work we've delivered with DISR."
Global energy consultancy Xodus has acquired Daymark Energy Advisors to expand its power networks capabilities across international energy transition projects.
The County of Humboldt's Economic Development Division will partner with global engineering and advisory consultancy, Xodus Group, to work on a critical project to assess and map the local and regional workforce, supply chain needs and upcoming opportunities within the emerging offshore wind industry.
Praise benefits for climate, communities, grid & jobs by making floating wind part of 100% clean-energy futureSACRAMENTO, Calif., May 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal, state and industry leaders on Day Two of the 2024 Pacific Offshore Wind Summit lauded California's commitment to make floating wind part of its diverse clean-power future, and urged the state to advance plans to deploy a nation-leading 25 gigawatts (GW) by 2045, to create jobs and meet its climate, clean-energy, and grid-reliability goals. Speakers at the Summit, hosted by Offshore Wind California (OWC), called on the state to move with speed and scale on key next steps to bring offshore wind online – including transmission and port upgrades, procuring at scale, a permitting roadmap, supply chain, workforce training, and suitable sea space to reach the state's goals. The California Energy Commission is finalizing the state's draft AB 525 Strategic Plan, which outlines California's next steps to responsibly develop offshore wind and achieve its planning goals for up to 5 GW by 2030 and 25 GW by 2045. Last fall, Governor Newsom also signed AB 1373 enabling the state to procure floating offshore wind at scale."I'm excited to be here because this Summit really is at the heart of the historic progress to grow the offshore wind industry up and down the Pacific Coast," said Laura Daniel-Davis, Acting Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Interior. "We are moving full steam ahead in our efforts to achieve President Biden's ambitious goal of deploying 30 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 15 GW of floating offshore wind by 2035. Together, we're building an industry that will transform the way millions of people power their lives, for the better and for generations to come."In April, the Department of Interior announced a new five-year U.S
BOEM & state discuss plans for leasing future California wind areas to reach ambitious 25 GW goal by 2045SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 15, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal, state, and industry leaders on Day One of the 2024 Pacific Offshore Wind Summit joined in encouraging California to advance its plans to deploy 25 gigawatts (GW) from offshore wind by 2045, as the state sets a course to be a global leader on floating offshore wind power. Speakers at the Summit, hosted by Offshore Wind California (OWC), urged the state to move expeditiously on essential next steps to develop offshore wind at scale – including investing in transmission and ports, procuring at scale, setting a permitting roadmap, engaging key stakeholders, building a supply chain and workforce training, and defining more lease areas to reach the state's goals. The California Energy Commission (CEC) is finalizing the state's draft AB 525 Strategic Plan, which was released in January and outlines California's next steps to responsibly develop offshore wind and achieve its planning goals for up to 5 GW by 2030 and 25 GW by 2045. Last fall, Governor Newsom signed AB 1373 enabling the state to procure offshore wind at scale. Last December, California also joined the Global Offshore Wind Alliance and has now signed agreements with Norway, Denmark, Japan, China, and Scotland to advance deployment of floating offshore wind."25 GW of offshore wind is a landmark goal. We're all in on building this, bringing it to fruition, and doing it the right way," said David Hochschild, Chair, CEC, of the floating technology California is moving ahead to deploy 20 miles offshore. "That means a very inclusive process, it means a lot of dialogue, and it means really trying to do it in a way that supports and uplifts communities
