  • Local PC manufacturing in India by 2028 reduces supply chain exposure under 'India for the world' policy[4].

What critics are saying

  • Dell and HPE hold 35% AI server share versus Lenovo's 11%, capping infrastructure margin inflection within 9–15 months[1].
  • Legion 7's $3,375 price—2.6× NVIDIA's $1,299 target—will erode 2026 PC margins by 8–12% in 6–12 months[1].

Lenovo wants $3,375 for a laptop with the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GPU.

Lenovo wants $3,375 for a laptop with the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GPU. The new memory configuration carries a large price premium. Lenovo has added the 12GB version of the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU to the Legion 7 16AGP11. Best Buy lists the new configuration for $3,374.99 with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor, 32GB of memory, a 1TB SSD and a 16-inch 2560x1600 OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate. Best Buy is selling Lenovo's new variant with 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a 240 Hz OLED and Glacier White or Nebula colours. Pricing is set at $3,374.99, which is $575 more than the MSRP of a GeForce RTX 5060-powered equivalent. A current sale for the latter means that new GeForce RTX 5070 options cost $950 more than GeForce RTX 5060 models. - Notebookcheck When NVIDIA announced its Blackwell laptop lineup at CES 2025, the company showed GeForce RTX 5070 laptops starting at $1,299. Lenovo's new model costs $2,076 more than that target, making it approximately 2.6 times more expensive. NVIDIA RTX 50 Laptop GPU pricing (starting at), Source: NVIDIA The 12GB RTX 5070 is not a higher-performance Ti model. It retains 4,608 CUDA cores, 798 AI TOPS and a 128-bit memory interface. The main change is the use of 24Gb GDDR7 chips, which increase capacity from 8GB to 12GB without widening the memory bus. Lenovo's specifications confirm that the Legion 7a runs the GPU at up to 115W, slightly above NVIDIA's standard 100W range. The RTX 5070 configuration is also restricted to the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 470, while RTX 5060 models can use the cheaper Ryzen AI 7 450. Cheapest RTX 5070 12GB laptop. We also searched for cheaper laptops using the new 12GB GPU. The lowest-priced complete system we found was the MSI Crosshair 16 Max HX at €2,345. It includes a Core Ultra 9 275HX, 16GB of memory, a 1TB SSD and a 165Hz OLED display. The additional 4GB of memory addresses one of the main complaints about the original RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. However, current systems treat the refreshed configuration like a high-end product, despite retaining the same mid-range GPU core and 128-bit memory bus. Honestly, I never expected RTX 5070-class laptops to break into the $3000 price range, but here we are.

Lenovo and McDonald's give discarded toys a second life through circular plastics partnership.

Lenovo and McDonald's give discarded toys a second life through circular plastics partnership. As the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup unfolds, Lenovo and McDonald's China have teamed up to launch a circular economy initiative under the theme "Score Another Goal for the Planet." The campaign aims to give discarded Happy Meal toys a second life by integrating recycled toy plastics into Lenovo's green supply chain, demonstrating how cross-sector collaboration can unlock new pathways for resource circularity. Collected and sorted through McDonald's recycling programme, used plastic toys are processed through Lenovo's established circular supply chain system, where they undergo dismantling, material recovery and advanced recycling procedures. The recovered plastics are then transformed into new materials that meet electronics manufacturing standards and are used to create a limited-edition product inspired by McDonald's iconic French fries. The initiative coincides with a consumer-facing collection campaign at participating McDonald's restaurants, where customers can recycle unwanted toys and take part in interactive activities linked to the World Cup celebration. The collaboration builds on both companies' longstanding sustainability commitments. McDonald's "Recrafted Goods" programme has previously converted waste materials into products such as recycled trays, employee uniforms and branded merchandise, while Lenovo has incorporated circular economy principles into product lifecycle management for more than two decades. Beyond a creative brand partnership, the project highlights the potential for companies across industries to connect supply chains, extend material lifecycles and accelerate the transition toward a more circular economy.
