Phlair

Captures CO2 via liquid sorbent technology

Overview

Phlair uses a patented liquid sorbent system to capture CO2 from the air in a capture module. The captured CO2 is either permanently stored or turned into carbon-neutral or carbon-negative products. It partners with hard-to-decarbonize industries—such as heavy manufacturing and energy generation—selling the technology, offering long-term services, or pursuing joint ventures that leverage carbon credits. Its goal is to reduce atmospheric CO2 and help industries reach net-zero by providing scalable, practical decarbonization and carbon-credit monetization.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Electra 01 began operations in Rotterdam in 2026, proving first commercial delivery.
  • Isometric-certified credits and Paebbl storage create credible permanent-removal revenue now.
  • Frontier-backed demand and a €2.5 million EIC grant de-risk early commercialization.

What critics are saying

  • Phlair's €14.5 million seed round funds pilots, not the 2027 Dawn scaleup.
  • Project Dawn slipped from 2026 promises to 2027 on Phlair's own site.
  • Climeworks and Heirloom outrank Phlair on capital, execution, and customer depth.

What makes Phlair unique

  • Phlair's electrochemical Hydrolyzer targets intermittent solar power, unlike heat-heavy DAC rivals.
  • Electra 01 in Rotterdam pairs DAC with Paebbl mineralization, locking carbon into construction materials.
  • Phlair already sells removal to Frontier, Shopify, Stripe, and Milkywire.
