Akash has launched early access to Homenode, a platform enabling consumer-grade GPU owners to contribute computing capacity to its decentralized cloud network. The open beta focuses initially on machines equipped with NVIDIA RTX 4090 or RTX 5090 GPUs. Homenode is delivered as a dedicated operating system that transforms eligible machines into secure provider nodes. Users can dual-boot or partition their devices to keep their normal operating system separate. The platform removes technical barriers to becoming a compute provider, allowing individuals to contribute from a single high-performance machine rather than requiring enterprise infrastructure. Part of Akash's StarCluster initiative for distributed AI compute, the beta aims to validate performance before broader expansion. Akash is building a waitlist for additional GPU models including RTX, GTX, Quadro and professional workstation cards.
