Requirements
  • M.Sc. (required) or Ph.D. (preferred) in a related life sciences field
  • 10+ years of experience carrying out R&D, leading laboratory, and managing teams, preferably in an industry setting
  • Experience managing research groups and releasing new products
  • Knowledge of NGS technologies and platforms for sequencing
  • Application space of NGS, notably tGBS and whole-genome sequencing
  • Understanding of NGS data analysis
  • Application space of PCR for MDx and Applied markets
  • Use of PCR to genotype polymorphism
  • Knowledge of amplification technologies outside of PCR
  • Knowledge of approaches to genotype various polymorphisms
  • Understanding of principles of assay design
  • Use of enzymes in various applications
  • Optimization of buffers and components for Molecular Reagents
  • Knowledge of enzyme development and engineering
Responsibilities
  • Overall leadership and hands-on management of an R&D team located in the USA and UK
  • Establishing the strategic product development plan and areas of scientific focus
  • Collaboration with Product Management and senior leadership
  • Conducting opportunity analyses and successful product development
  • Setting research goals and plans to achieve those goals
  • Identifying areas to develop novel technology
  • Initiating research projects/programs to grow the business
  • Improving operating efficiencies and meeting quality objectives
  • Ensuring delivery of R&D critical metrics
  • Driving broader technical network development and contributing to strategy and execution of established objectives
