Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in video operations environments
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role
  • High Level knowledge of video backhaul and distribution methodology
  • Competence with Mac and Windows Operating Systems
  • Substantial knowledge of IP Video Transport concepts
  • Experience with video encoding and assorted Codecs
  • Willingness to travel to assist remote teams on potentially short notice.
  • Experience with Evertz, Ross, Ateme, Sencore, Riedel, or equivalent Broadcast hardware manufacturers
Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing team driving game-day operations that support MLB’s industry-leading streaming products
  • Manage the Broadcast Operations supervisory team in support of Streaming Operations, Partner Delivery as well as internal stakeholders including Replay, Data Operations and Player Tracking
  • Collaborate with the Sr Director of Broadcast Technology to develop strategies and procedures to support new and expanding initiatives
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures in support of Major League Baseball (MLB) and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) streaming operations and related infrastructure
  • Create and refine procedures for incident response, issue tracking and reporting to leadership
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and rectify technical faults in a variety of broadcast and broadcast related IP systems and escalate to responsible teams
  • Provide technical operations support of ballpark communications systems as problems are reported
  • Occasionally provide on site assistance with remote ballpark teams for installation, decommission, and general upkeep of ballpark devices
  • Guide team on conducting proactive hardware audits to detect and escalate equipment issues before they impact operations
  • Assist to maintain, repair, install, and expand broadcast, and broadcast related systems
  • Support workflows utilizing ST 2110 for uncompressed IP video routing, as well as compressed transmission workflows using AVC, HEVC, and JPEG XS encoding
  • Strong working knowledge of secure video transport protocols including SRT and Zixi, with the ability to guide implementation and troubleshoot contribution and distribution challenges for a large scale live content delivery system
