Requirements
  • A high school graduate or equivalent degree is required.
  • Completion of one to two years of college is preferred.
  • Maintain a current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician II license.
  • Hold and maintain current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
  • Obtain a Massachusetts pharmacy technician license within 90 days of hire.
  • Have at least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician; commensurate experience in a related field such as benefits management may be considered in lieu of technician experience.
  • Have strong customer service presence and verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, nurses, and ancillary support staff.
  • Have solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, web applications, and multiple pharmacy system applications.
  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize while maintaining accuracy and service standards.
  • Obtain pharmacy ambulatory liaison competency requirements within three months of hire and maintain them at least annually thereafter, including completion of the Medication Access Program Competency Checklist, disease-state-specific training, accreditation updates, and other required operational competencies.
  • Be able to sit for extended periods and possess the visual acuity and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multiple monitors.
Responsibilities
  • Interact with patients, families, providers, nurses, and support personnel to facilitate affordable, accessible, and reliable pharmacy services.
  • Maintain pharmacy interdepartmental relationships to support seamless transition of patient care from clinic to pharmacy.
  • Protect and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines.
  • Collect patient information needed for prescription filling, benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance applications.
  • Enter patient data into organizational systems to support accurate service charging, insurance billing, payment, and copay processing.
  • Recruit ambulatory care patients to grow the Brown University Health Pharmacy patient population.
  • Respond to questions about medication and pharmaceutical supply cost and availability.
  • Inform customers, patients, providers, and support personnel about wait times, drug availability issues, and the refill authorization process for expired prescriptions.
  • Develop relationships with assigned patients to encourage retention.
  • Contact patients by phone, in person, or through an approved modality to assess medication needs and estimate adherence based on medication supply on hand.
  • Assist patients and customers in resolving identified problems.
  • Identify patients with clinical needs, including medication and drug-interaction questions, and refer them to a pharmacist.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities, identify improvement opportunities, and help develop new processes.
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives and use approved processes to report actual, prevented, and near-miss medication errors.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and supporting fellow staff under pharmacist and technician-supervisor or group-leader guidance.
  • Conduct benefits investigations and identify coverage details unavailable from the patient or representative.
  • Navigate the electronic health record to answer questions and provide documentation for prior authorizations and financial assistance applications.
  • Perform prior authorizations, appeals, and tier exceptions on behalf of providers, and communicate results to patients, families, providers, and pharmacies.
  • Secure treatment-related financial assistance, including manufacturer assistance programs, discount programs, and nationally recognized foundations.
  • Refer patients to medication manufacturer assistance programs and assist with applications.
  • Coordinate financial assistance applications among patients, clinics, and providers to ensure required paperwork is submitted appropriately.
  • Authorize prescription refills as a provider's agent in accordance with the Brown University Health Medication Access Refill Guideline.
  • Communicate provider-approved refills to patients or their pharmacies.
  • Approve prescription refills under specified conditions and obtain clinician or pharmacist consultation for other requests.
  • Consult the electronic health record, Medication Access Program, and refill standards before authorizing refill requests.
  • Confirm that the provider has completed the Medication Access Program prescriber opt-in form before authorizing refills.
  • Approve refill requests when the patient has seen the provider within the required period, laboratory testing is current, and the medication appears on both the electronic health record medication list and the refill standards.
  • Reroute refill requests to the provider, clinical staff, office staff, or pharmacist when defined criteria are not met.
  • Refuse refill requests according to the Brown University Health Medication Access Refill Guidelines.
  • Assist providers in identifying ancillary supplies for select medications, including sharps containers, needles or syringes, alcohol swabs, and bandages.

(“TriSalus” or the “company”), an oncology company in the process of going public through a business combination transaction (the “Business Combination”) with MedTech Acquisition Corporation (Nasdaq: MTAC) (“MedTech” or “MTAC”), today announced that it has expanded the reach of its ongoing Pressure-Enabled Regional Immuno-Oncology™ (“PERIO™-01” and “PERIO™-02”) clinical program.In recent months TriSalus has opened five new PERIO™-01 (NCT04935229) clinical trial sites, at Stanford University Hospitals, University of California Los Angeles, University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Washington Medical Center and University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, in addition to five previously activated sites.
