Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize and conduct in-person office visits in Colombia and Mexico.
  • Review and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Firm’s legal, regulatory and client obligations specific to our Colombia and Mexico offices.
  • Support the Firm’s Cross Border Data Transfer Program and perform Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), as necessary.
  • Monitor and effectively communicate changes in compliance regulations and standards.
  • Support the development and expansion of the Firm’s Anti-Bribery and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programs in Latin America, including SAGRILAFT.
  • Communicate and evangelize the Privacy and Compliance program and associated initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance standards, practices, and internal controls are appropriately documented and adhered to.
  • Support the program’s communication and awareness campaigns, including the identification of training requirements and relevant topics specific to our Latin America offices.
  • Keep current with compliance best practices and trends and communicate to other team members.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments, develop mitigation or corrective action plans, and communicate and escalate identified risks, as necessary.
  • Facilitate compliance risk mitigation efforts by providing monitoring and oversight of remediation efforts to support ongoing compliance.
  • Support the development of the Firm’s compliance program and associated initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Global law firm Holland & Knight has appointed partner Kirsten Donaldson to its public policy and regulation group in Washington, DC. Before her move Donaldson served as vice president of public policy at the National Association of Broadcasters for two years, where she advised on policy development as well as regulatory advocacy on artificial intelligence, copyright, media law and technology matters before a range of agencies and courts. Leader of the public policy and regulation group Rich Gold commented: "Kirsten brings strong policy credentials and long-standing relationships with congressional leadership, making her exceptionally well-positioned to guide clients. Orange County Bar Association celebrates its 2026 Professionalism Awards.

Orange County Bar Association celebrates its 2026 Professionalism Awards. The Orange County Bar Association recently honored three members of the legal community, whose conduct and career distinguish them as models of professionalism and success, with the presentation of its annual Professionalism Awards. The recipients for 2026 are: David Cannella, a partner specializing in complex business litigation at Holland & Knight in Orlando, received the William Trickel, Jr. Professionalism Award, OCBA's highest honor. Cannella currently serves on the board of the George C. Young American Inn of Court has served as president of the Legal Aid Society of the OCBA, chair of The Florida Bar's Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee as well as other Florida Bar committees. He has also served as an adjunct professor of business law at the University of Central Florida and as a faculty member of the Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques at Emory University School of Law. Canella is the third Holland & Knight partner to be distinguished with the honor, with previous recipients Suzanne Gilbert (2021) and Glenn Adams (2018). The Trickel Award is given to attorneys who have been in practice for at least 15 years. Judge Gisela T. Laurent, of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, received the James G. Glazebrook Memorial Bar Service Award, which is given to a state or federal jurist who "best demonstrates service to and support of the legal profession and the Legal Aid Society of the OCBA, is dedicated to professionalism both in and out of the courtroom, and is a leader in promoting professionalism, including civility, integrity, and respect for the legal system." C. Andrew Roy, of Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman in Winter Garden, is the recipient of the Lawrence G. Mathews, Jr., Young Lawyer Professionalism Award, which is given to lawyers who have been practicing for less than 15 years.
