Requirements
  • Ability to lift and push heavy objects such as patients, supply and patient carts, beds, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe and proper handling of hazardous waste and other substances.
  • Knowledge of various positioning equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively to enhance patient care and facilitate daily operations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long hours and mobility and strength to move quickly, stoop, and bend repeatedly.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor and mentor by fostering a teaching environment.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information for patients.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases and prepare the rooms for the following case.
  • Support the operative team with various requests while cases are in progress.
  • Participate as a productive member of the operating-room assistant team.
  • Transport patients, trays, blood gases, specimens, and equipment.
  • Clean and service areas in the department of surgical services and perform duties to maintain the operating room.
  • Clean designated equipment and keep it neat, orderly, and sanitary according to established procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
