Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • 5+ years experience in FP&A and/or banking, or similar analytics experience, biotech industry experience a plus
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and sense of urgency
  • Excellent quantitative analytical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, can easily present complex financial issues to non-finance executives (solid PowerPoint skills preferred)
  • Well-versed in financial modeling and budget management, with the ability to identify key variance drivers and create forecasting models to predict the future with accuracy
  • Proficient in using financial software and data analysis tools to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand their financial needs, provide analytical support, and offer insights for informed decision-making.
  • Serve as the key business partner to Discovery and Tech business functions, focusing on providing financial day-to day support for their strategic programs.
  • Plan and carry out budget procedures including monitoring of department expenditures, communicating status to management, reviewing and making recommendations on business unit and department budget proposals.
  • Manage and enhance forecasting models to ensure expense management with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Provide budget vs.actual reporting including variance explanations and commentary and various ad-hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
  • Support the annual budget/LRP processes and consolidations around headcount, opex and capex planning.
  • Work closely with the Accounting team to ensure accurate classification of expenses for management reporting purposes and to provide budget managers with financial and activity based analysis.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support company Long Range Financial planning process by developing appropriate models and making adjustments over time to optimize the process.
  • Support existing partner collaboration analysis and contribute to business development financial modeling.
  • Build financial models and analyze business development opportunities, risks, synergies and overall cost models.
