Conductor is a Mac app that lets developers manage multiple AI coding agents, running them in parallel in isolated workspaces by cloning the repository so each agent has its own copy of the codebase. It integrates with Linear and git worktrees, enabling users to start work on issues, see what each agent is doing, review code changes, and create pull requests, while supporting models like Claude Code and Codex and running locally on the Mac. The Gemini CLI extension adds a structured workflow with specs and plans stored in Markdown files to guide more complex agent-driven development. Conductor aims to be the primary interface for AI managers and to standardize multi-agent orchestration within existing development workflows, differentiating itself through per-agent isolation, local execution, and seamless Git-based collaboration.

What believers are saying

  • Conductor raised a $22 million Series A on 2026-03-30 from Spark and Matrix.
  • Conductor reported 10x user growth since January and 100,000-plus builders by August 2026.
  • July 2026 multiplayer cloud alpha and API expand from solo Mac app to team platform.

What critics are saying

  • OpenAI Codex and Cursor now bundle parallel agents, cloud sandboxes, and worktrees.
  • Microsoft's open-source Conductor name collision dilutes search visibility and hiring conversations.
  • If OpenAI or Cursor ships cheaper orchestration, Conductor's standalone desktop moat disappears.

What makes Conductor unique

  • Charlie Holtz and Jackson de Campos launched Conductor in 2024 at Brown.
  • Conductor runs isolated microVM workspaces and git worktrees for parallel agents.
  • September 2026 product adds multiplayer cloud and API around team agent orchestration.

Conductor raises $22M Series A from Spark and Matrix for AI coding platform

Conductor has raised $22 million in a Series A round led by Spark and Matrix. The company builds tools to help engineers manage coding agents by creating isolated codebase copies where AI can work before results are reviewed and merged. Founded last summer, Conductor has experienced tenfold user growth since January. YC startups are writing 100% of their code using the platform, whilst engineers at Google, Meta, Amazon, Spotify, HubSpot, Ramp and other major companies have adopted the tool. The funding round was led by Ilya Sukhar at Matrix, who also led the seed round and is joining the board, alongside Nabeel Hyatt at Spark, Y Combinator and founders from Notion and Linear. Conductor plans to expand from its current MacBook-based platform to support larger AI organisations across multiple deployment environments.
