We are looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant. As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this position, you will report to the Senior of Financial Reporting. The Financial Reporting Staff Accountant will also work closely with other senior accounting team members including the Assistant Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, and other key stakeholders in the accounting and reporting function in order to assist in managing the external quarterly reviews and year-end audit, participate in equity, warrants, and investment accounting, support our monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, and aid in special projects as needed. This position will mostly work remotely, periodically working on-site at our headquarters to facilitate team collaboration. A successful candidate will have an accounting background and will apply their accounting knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills to be a part of a dynamic, first-class accounting team for a high-growth, high-tech company.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the Company’s SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and Proxy
- Prepare the monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for equity, warrants, investments, and other accounting areas according to Company procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Prepare account reconciliations and associated financial analyses to ensure timely and accurate issuance of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Analyze accounts and existing processes to develop insights and opportunities for improved information quality and automation, including the proactive development of new key reports
- Perform Sarbanes-Oxley key controls in a timely manner and assemble certain audit deliverables
- Support the accounting department in special projects as needed

- High competency in Microsoft Excel

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We have also recently announced our new manufacturing and production facility in the Seattle, Washington area. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle and Toronto metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies.
