Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or cybersecurity leadership, including experience as the primary security owner at a company with fewer than 200 people.
  • Hands-on end-to-end ownership of a Security Information and Event Management and Endpoint Detection and Response stack.
  • Demonstrated ownership of Identity and Access Management and Privileged Access Management architecture in a modern identity provider such as Okta or equivalent.
  • Direct experience leading at least one SOC 2 Type II audit cycle, including delivery of evidence to auditors.
  • Direct experience running vendor security assessments and responding to customer or prospect security questionnaires or technical due diligence.
  • Working knowledge of export control frameworks, including ITAR and EAR, as applied to technical data and access control.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy zero-trust network access, secure cloud perimeters, and infrastructure access controls across cloud and physical lab and office environments.
  • Safeguard engineering compute environments, CAD and EDA tools, and proprietary chip design repositories against external exfiltration and unauthorized access.
  • Implement Identity and Access Management policies, fine-grained Role-Based Access Control, Multi-Factor Authentication, and automated access review cycles.
  • Design and execute end-to-end vulnerability management processes covering continuous asset scanning, prioritization, and coordinated remediation tracking with engineering teams.
  • Build, maintain, and test the incident response runbook; serve as the primary incident commander during security events; conduct forensic analysis and root-cause post-mortems.
  • Establish Security Information and Event Management and Endpoint Detection and Response tooling, intrusion detection, and continuous logging across endpoints, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Lead technical defense discussions and security assessments with customers and investors.
  • Conduct vendor risk management assessments for third-party software-as-a-service and infrastructure tools entering the company’s software stack.
  • Own the security compliance library, authoring and enforcing acceptable use, data classification, network segmentation, and disaster recovery policies.
  • Support the SOC 2 Type II certification program in coordination with engineering, General Counsel, and external auditors.
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to establish secure data handling, export control safeguards, and access controls.

Austin-based AI chipmaker Neurophos to expand, hire 80 after $110 million investment. An Austin-based artificial intelligence chipmaker has secured $110 million in new funding, in part thanks to backing from Microsoft Corp. Neurophos Inc. said Thursday it plans to expand its North Austin headquarters and hire 80 employees locally. The latest investment brings the company's total funding to $118 million. "Modern AI inference demands monumental amounts of power and compute," Marc Tremblay, corporate vice president and technical fellow of core AI infrastructure at Microsoft, said in a statement. "We need a breakthrough in compute on par with the leaps we've seen in AI models themselves, which is what Neurophos' technology and high-talent density team is developing." Funding was led by Colorado-based Gates Family Foundation's Frontiers Fund with participation from Microsoft's venture fund M12 and other capital investment firms. Neurophos was founded in 2020, emerging as an AI startup out of Duke University.
