Requirements
  • We value past experience building things that work. We do not need specific degrees; we need results. Make sure your resume highlights what you have built, shipped, automated, scaled, or made real.
  • We value an engineering mindset focused on delivering production AI systems, not academic benchmarks.
  • You should have experience building with LLMs, data processing pipelines, and analytics tools, and you should be comfortable decomposing messy business problems into reliable technical workflows.
  • We require past experience building GenAI solutions, a strong understanding of the AI landscape, and a solid foundation in machine learning basics such as evaluation, training concepts, and problem decomposition.
  • You should be a strong coder, with proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C++, or similar languages.
  • You should be comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical teammates, working in dynamic environments, and iterating directly with users.
  • Ability and interest in traveling to Zipline sites as needed is helpful up to 50% depending on the organization you’ll be deployed into.
  • Experience with talent systems, sourcing, recruiting operations, structured interviewing, workflow automation, analytics, or human-reviewed AI systems is especially helpful.
  • Location: This will be an in-office role based out of Zipline's South San Francisco headquarters.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time either to the headquarters or into the field.
Responsibilities
  • Forward Deployed AI Engineers work directly with Zipline teams to own GenAI strategy and implementation for high-impact operational workflows and teams.
  • On a daily basis, you will build end-to-end AI tools, take them to production, and solve real-world problems across aviation, logistics, fulfillment, maintenance, customer operations, and commercial teams.
  • You will work closely with operators, engineers, product teams, and business leaders to understand user needs, define the right technical approach, and implement solutions that improve how Zipline runs.
  • You will also bring learnings from the field back into Zipline’s broader AI tooling, platforms, and best practices.
  • In this deployment, you will focus on recruiting pipeline visibility, sourcing support, role intake, interview workflows, candidate coordination, calibration, candidate communications, debrief synthesis, and hiring-process analytics.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with talent systems, sourcing, recruiting operations, structured interviewing, workflow automation, analytics, or human-reviewed AI systems is especially helpful.

Zipline designs, builds, and operates autonomous delivery networks using two drone platforms: P1 fixed-wing drones for long-range, centralized deliveries with parachute drops, and P2 hover-drones for precise home deliveries. It provides end-to-end service, from drones and hubs to software and logistics, under government and enterprise contracts, earning revenue per delivery or per distribution center. The system enables zero-emission, instant logistics for medical supplies and consumer goods across multiple countries, with partners like Walmart and GNC. The goal is fast, reliable, scalable delivery that expands access to essential items, especially healthcare, through a fully integrated global network.

What believers are saying

  • Walmart and Chipotle validate consumer delivery beyond healthcare logistics.
  • Africa expansions add livestock, HIV care, and broader government contract revenue.
  • New sites reaching 100 daily deliveries in two days shows strong deployment efficiency.

What critics are saying

  • Low-margin retail partnerships can pressure economics if Walmart demands cheaper delivery.
  • Consumer adoption remains unproven outside novelty-driven early access and small service radii.
  • A U.S. safety incident could trigger tighter FAA scrutiny and partner pullback.

What makes Zipline unique

  • Zipline operates vertically integrated autonomous delivery networks, not just drones.
  • Platform 2 enables quiet, precise suburban doorstep delivery for retail partners.
  • Its national-scale medical logistics footprint provides unmatched regulatory and operational experience.

Zipline raises $600M at $7.6B valuation, surpasses 2M deliveries and expands to Houston and Phoenix

Zipline, an American robotics company operating the world's largest autonomous delivery system, has raised over $600 million and is now valued at $7.6 billion. The company has surpassed two million commercial deliveries and will expand to Houston and Phoenix in early 2026, with additional metros following later in the year. Zipline's US deliveries have grown approximately 15% week-over-week for seven months. The service delivers food, retail and healthcare products in as little as 10 minutes, with a median flight time of three minutes. New sites now reach 100 deliveries per day in just two days, compared to 10 weeks for the company's first Dallas location. The company exceeded its Q3 daily delivery volume target by 30% and reached its Q4 target six weeks early.
