Engineer I

The Engineer I completes technical assessments and valuations of various renewable energy projects for BHE Renewables, including solar, battery energy storage systems, wind, biomass, hydro and geothermal resources. During renewable project construction or operating activities, works and directs others in technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to renewable energy projects.           

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. 
• One year of engineering experience.  
• Experience in control systems, solar, BESS, substation, electric transmission, power generation or renewable energy preferred
• High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline. 
• Broad analytical skills.
• Advanced project management skills. 
• Excellent analytical and evaluation skills to define critical tasks and establish optimum sequence of events and identify required resources 
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 
• Leadership skills to provide guidance, direction, orientation and instruction. 
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
• The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.

• Provide technical due diligence support for potential acquisition of renewable projects. 
• Complete site assessments on renewable acquisition projects before financial closing to ensure adequate scope of engineering and construction work and prepare comprehensive written and oral reports. 
• Perform research and analysis for use in development of business strategies for emerging renewable markets and/or new technology opportunities. 
• Participate in the development of risk management and mitigation strategies for such investments, including the review of contractor's qualifications, contracts, schedules, budgets, plans and specifications. 
• Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions or maintenance to BHE Renewable energy projects. 
• Provide engineering assistance to staff and other departments. 
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
