A Day in the Life
The Tech Consultant provides clinical, technical and product knowledge support to existing/potential customers and Medtronic colleagues. Responsible for opportunity development by facilitating progressing successful clinical evaluations from inception through to completion. Builds and maintains solid customer relationships and provides customer training at all levels. The Tech Consultant role will aid in achieving or exceeding sales revenue targets for system targets as well as additional products by procedure types, including robotics. Liaise with, Territory Managers and clinical specialists to identify new opportunities and deliver superior customer support. This
position is responsible for assisting with key customer reports as required to support
Medtronic products and services.
A Day in the life:
- Provides technical expertise to sales representatives, other sales functions and customers.
- Provides technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products.
- May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer personnel by providing technical support and information on specific applications.
- Provides sales personnel with technical data necessary for the demonstration of products.
- May make technical or scientific presentations at sales meetings and customer locations.
- Conducts on-site education and consulting, and supports establishment and maintenance of customer relations with healthcare professionals and organizations.
- Acts as a liaison between sales personnel and technical staff.
- Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)
- Evaluations:
o In conjunction with the local Territory Manager and direction from the assigned
Business Manager, represent Medtronic during surgical evaluations and
demonstrations, and instruct clinical staff (including nurses and physicians)
during procedures.
o Perform pre-trial activities such as in-servicing of staff, organizing equipment
and disposable requirements, etc.
o Introduce/demonstrate more complex technology utilization, and new
products and applications to physicians, hospital staff as well as Medtronic
colleagues.
o Develop relationships with customers including surgeons and other areas
within the hospital environment. Assist in the logistics for equipment delivery
liaising with the Loaner and Service groups
• New Product Launches:
o Introduce/demonstrate more complex and new products and applications to
physicians, hospital staff and Medtronic colleagues.
• Sales Support:
o Support Medtronic resources to success in meeting or exceeding sales targets
by ensuring successful trials/evaluations and demonstrating unmatched
technical and clinical expertise/ support.
o Completing of assisting in the technical requirement section of RFP’s
o Continually monitoring competitive products and providing education to the
sales team through competitive analysis reviews
o Supports with creation of capital sales quotations for assigned territory
• Technical / Clinical Support:
o Coordinate with regional field service support colleagues to lead installations
as necessary, provide technical service support and complete documentation
(training, installation, system checkout) as required. - o Meet and maintain relationships with customers including surgeons, OR staff,
Diagnostic Imaging departments, foundations and other areas within the
hospital environment.
o Educate/train physicians and hospital personnel – on clinical / technical matters
relating to assigned Medtronic products and Technologies

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

• Previous Technical or clinical support experience in and healthcare company will be
considered.
• Operating room knowledge and experience - Basic knowledge of imaging and
fluoroscopy and/or surgical robotics.

• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a
changing environment.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Travel required for training, customer events, symposia and field activities
• On-call and travelling after hours may be required for customer presentation and/or field related activities
• Minimum travel of 50-60% of any given work week
