Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Maryland State Board of Physicians.
  • Must hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Must have Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification or it must meet department standards as preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Must demonstrate empathy and the ability to remain calm in potentially stressful situations.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills for professional interaction with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Must be able to explain policies, relay information accurately, and communicate with courtesy and tact.
Responsibilities
  • Observe and assess patients during pulmonary rehabilitation sessions.
  • Monitor and obtain vital signs as appropriate.
  • Assist patients throughout therapy activities to ensure safety and tolerance.
  • Provide patient education related to pulmonary disease management and rehabilitation goals.
  • Respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition.
  • Work collaboratively with the pulmonary rehabilitation team, including another Respiratory Therapist responsible for documentation.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and departmental policies.
  • Maintain a professional, supportive, and respectful environment for all patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred per department standards.
