Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience, including experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, and long-term care nursing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, preferably in long-term care.
  • Current CPR Certificate.
  • Ability to build, manage, and coach an effective, engaged, and high-functioning team.
  • Conflict resolution, problem-solving, presentation, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring financial budgets.
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result.
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Resident Care in implementing high-quality nursing services.
  • Hire appropriate staff and coach, develop, monitor, and evaluate staff to maintain an agile, effective, efficient, and engaged team.
  • Ensure compliance with staff scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Oversee resident care in assigned units, including monitoring, communicating with residents and families, and providing prompt intervention.
  • Assess departmental training needs and coordinate staff development programs, including orientation, in-service, and certificate programs for professional and non-professional nursing staff.
  • Provide leadership and coordinate and implement RAI-MDS, CQI, Infection Prevention and Control, Restorative, and Health and Safety programs within the department.
  • Review nursing, resident care, and health and safety policies and procedures, and recommend changes to the Director as necessary.
  • Coordinate and ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation and information on digital applications and systems used in the department.
  • Coordinate special programs or projects as assigned.
  • Implement risk management and quality improvement programs, including infection control, occupational health and safety, incidents, and falls.
  • Act as backup to the Assistant Director or Director of Resident Care in their absence.
  • Keep up to date with developments and best practices in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
