We are seeking an experienced VP, AI who will play a pivotal role in leading and setting the strategic direction of Element’s artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer vision (CV) departments. This role will report to the SVP, Software and Informatics and will be a San Diego basedrole.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Lead all artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer vision (CV) departments, setting strategic direction and defining clear objectives aligned with the company’s vision
• Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration within cross functional teams
• Collaborate closely with other executives to integrate AI strategies across the company
• Collaborate extensively with the design and engineering teams to develop cutting-edge Ai features
• Ensure that product development is aligned with the latest advancements in AI, ML, and CV
• Drive the ideation and creation of new AI capabilities that are both innovative and commercially viable
• Oversee R&D initiatives in AI, ML and CV, ensuring they contribute to the company’s strategic goals
• Establish partnerships with academic and research institutions to support them in the advancement of AI technologies
• Build and manage a high-performing team of Ai experts, data scientists, and engineers
• Cultivate a learning environment that encourages continuous professional growth and knowledge sharing

Education and Experience:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, ML, CV, or related fields
• Proven experience in a leadership role within AI, ML, and CV
• Strong track record in developing AI -driven products and solutions
• Deep understanding of current AI, ML, and CV technologies and trends
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative startup environment

• Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds

• Domestic and International travel up to 20% - or as needed

Job Type:

• Full-time/Exempt

Base Compensation Pay Range:

• $290,000 - $350,000

In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.
