Requirements
  • A Journeyperson Certificate is required.
  • At least 5 years of machining experience is required.
  • Ability to collaborate positively with the production leadership team, drafting and engineering, and shop-floor employees.
  • Ability to operate and maintain lathe and milling machines.
  • Ability to take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Ability to select the appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Ability to plan the proper sequence of tasks to complete an assignment.
  • Ability to review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Ability to monitor production and adjust feed and other settings as necessary.
  • Ability to check output for quality assurance and document defects.
  • Ability to identify the need for and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Ability to promote and enforce a safety-first culture, comply with safety policies, and conduct regular briefings.
  • Ability to complete related tasks as needed.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production, quality, and safety records.
Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.

  • Identify the need for and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first culture, ensure compliance with safety policies, and conduct regular briefings.
  • Accomplish related tasks as needed.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of production, quality, and safety records.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate is preferred.
  • Experience with manual programming and Mastercam computer-aided manufacturing software.
  • Experience operating both computer numerical control and manual machines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
