Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Third quarter 2026 bookings hit $175.4 million and backlog reached $731.6 million.
  • June 2026 Gilat sale should deliver $143 million to $145 million for debt reduction.
  • Matt Bugbee’s 2025 hiring strengthens federal civilian growth after the public safety pivot.

What critics are saying

  • Debt covenants stay suspended only until July 31, 2027, leaving refinancing pressure.
  • Comtech cut 24% of workforce by April 30, 2026, signaling fragile operating leverage.
  • If Gilat sale stalls, Comtech lacks cash to support Allerium and service $116 million borrowings.

What makes Comtech unique

  • Allerium’s $107 million Q2 funding proves stickiness with Tier 1 telecom customers.
  • Comtech is refocusing on public safety after selling most S&S to Gilat in 2026.
  • Retained cybersecurity training and NG-911 offerings give Comtech a narrower mission-critical niche.
