Overview:
DV is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team based in Chicago. In this pivotal role, you’ll be instrumental in driving our Linux, virtualization, and cloud capabilities forward, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance our IT operations. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain our Linux server infrastructure, ensuring low latency, high availability, and performance. 
• Design, implement, and optimize Linux solutions to meet the evolving needs of the organization, including capacity planning and performance tuning. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Windows, Network and storage services, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation. 
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for critical servers in multiple datacenters. 
• Troubleshoot problems, outages and performance bottlenecks, implementing solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency. 
• Automate Linux server provisioning, monitoring, and reporting tasks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. 
• Conduct regular health checks and proactive maintenance activities to ensure the stability and security of Linux systems. 
• Work closely with vendors to evaluate new technologies and solutions, providing recommendations for adoption based on business requirements. 
• Document configurations, procedures, and best practices, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuity within the team. 
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on systems-related projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 
• 5+ years of experience in managing enterprise Linux server solutions, including experience with system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting. 
• Experience with bare-metal provisioning systems, PXE, Kickstart or similar tools
• Experience with Salt, Ansible, Terraform or similar IAC tools, and the ability to write scripts or applications in Bash and Python
• Experience building infrastructure using as-code practices, as well as building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment and upgrades
• Experience with AWS, Azure or similar cloud infrastructure
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and their integration with Linux systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex systems issues and implement effective solutions. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with stakeholders at all levels. 
• Experience with Kubernetes is preferred
• Relevant experience in low-latency and high-frequency trading environments is preferred
• Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Linux Foundation Certified Systems Administrator are preferred
