Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience using Wireshark, Netscout, Riverbed, or tcpdump and analyzing network packet data to optimize transport performance during advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution in complex government or contractor networks.
  • Experience managing complex scheduling for performance tuning with internal and external teams to meet mission priorities.
  • Experience using government-provided information technology tools to generate Open Systems Interconnection layer metrics and analysis and produce reports identifying network problems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership integrating network requirements, design, and technology, including designing and performing integration of new technologies into local and wide area networks.
  • Experience supporting network transition and migration and developing network addressing schemes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network hardware, including routers, switches, hubs, gateways, access points, network interface cards, networking cables, bridges, modems, Integrated Services Digital Network adapters, and firewalls.
  • Active DoD 8570 compliance or the ability to achieve commensurate information assurance certification within six months.
  • TS/SCI clearance with willingness to take a CI polygraph.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop network requirements specifications.
  • Provide application performance data and analysis to support and ensure the end-user experience on operational networks.
  • Support performance tuning of network and application parameters for all sites and applicable program activities in accordance with mission and user objectives and priorities.
  • Provide network performance engineering data in accordance with coordinated performance-tuning standards and outcomes.
  • Provide technical reports defining metrics and operational procedures for addressing multiple network, server, and application outages twice per quarter.
  • Provide data and analysis to support Tier 3 operations and maintenance activities for monitoring end-user experience and troubleshooting application performance issues once per quarter.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members to ensure network performance meets user requirements, responds to crisis requirements, and is prepared to accept new or modified system capabilities, data, and services.
  • Perform analysis, optimization, and requirements verification to measure, maintain, and enhance network and application performance across the information technology infrastructure, including planned or existing cloud-based implementations for internal and external users.
  • Maintain awareness of industry and professional standards and best practices for operating and maintaining performance, capacity, and availability data collection tools and services for enterprise IT networks, including cloud-resident data, applications, and services.
  • Maintain awareness of and preparedness to support emerging network migrations and modernization across IT networks.
  • Analyze network requirements and capacity and coordinate with various teams to ensure design and development activities result in an acceptable user experience.
  • Generate and deliver recurring reports as directed.
