- Applicants must be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and must have graduated in May or August 2026.

- Applicants must hold a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification upon entering the program, valid for at least three months after the program start date.
- Applicants must successfully obtain a New Jersey Registered Nurse license, not merely a license number, at least two weeks before the residency start date.
- Residents must work the night shift; orientation begins on the day shift before transitioning to nights within the first six months.
- Provide direct nursing care to patients across the assigned clinical unit or units.
- Act as a patient advocate and use a holistic approach to patient care delivery.
- Provide care to cardiac telemetry, cardiac stepdown, post-procedural, post-cardiac-surgery, post-thoracic-surgery, and cardiac medical patients in the W4A/N4A units.
- Provide oncology and hematology care, including care for patients with lymphoma, leukemia, solid tumors, chemotherapy needs, immune thrombocytopenic purpura, and palliative care needs in W6A Oncology.
- Provide care to neurology patients, including patients after stroke and patients with status epilepticus, in N6A Neurology.
- Provide geriatric, pulmonary, and cardiac care in N7A Geriatrics/Pulmonary, including NICHE geriatric care, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
- Work in the Float Pool across multiple medical/surgical units and adapt assignments during shifts as needed.
- Related clinical work experience is a plus.
- Applicants should identify their top two preferred clinical areas from the listed units.

August 10, 2026 The Valley Hospital has received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines(R)- Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Open in new windowquality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring individuals experiencing stroke receive timely, appropriate treatment based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately helping to save lives and reduce disability. Stroke is the number four cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States, according to the American Heart Association's 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics ReportOpen in new window. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel supplying the brain is blocked by a clot or ruptures, preventing blood and oxygen from reaching brain tissue. When this happens, brain cells begin to die. Early detection and rapid treatment are critical to improving survival, minimizing disability, and supporting faster recovery. According to the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, Get With The Guidelines brings the organizations' expertise into hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines. The Get With The Guidelines - Stroke program is an in-hospital initiative designed to improve stroke care through consistent adherence to these guidelines, as noted by both organizations. The program aims to minimize the long-term effects of stroke and help prevent death. The Valley Hospital's David F. Bolger Emergency Department earn prestigious Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award. August 5, 2026 The Valley Hospital's David F. Bolger Emergency Department has received the 2026 Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award. The Valley Hospital is among an elite group of 126 hospitals nationwide to earn this award and the only hospital in Bergen County to receive this award for three cycles (each cycle consists of a 3-year period), according to the ENA. The Valley Hospital's Emergency Department provides comprehensive, around-the-clock care for all types of medical emergencies, following the highest safety standards and clinical protocols. Patients are treated by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and highly trained emergency nurses. The hospital also offers a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department that is open 24/7 for newborns, children, adolescents, and young adults, featuring separate treatment rooms designed to provide a child-friendly environment and specialized emergency care tailored to younger patients. August 4, 2026 The Valley Hospital has once again been ranked among the best hospitals in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report for 2026-27, placing among the top 10 on the list of 93 New Jersey hospitals that were evaluated. Valley also ranked among the top 25 best hospitals in the New York metropolitan area. In addition, The Valley Hospital achieved the highest possible rating of "high performing" in 9 adult procedures and conditions, including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; colon cancer surgery; heart arrhythmia; hip fracture; hip replacement; knee replacement; leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma; lung cancer surgery; and stroke. "Being named among the best hospitals in New Jersey affirms the high-quality, compassionate care our patients have experienced for more than 75 years," said Robert Brenner, MD, MMM, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for Valley Health System. Three other North Jersey hospitals were included in the magazine's top 11 in the Garden State: Englewood Hospital, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and The Valley Hospital in Paramus. The hospitals are among 505 recognized nationwide in the U.S. News rankings, which use mortality rates while adjusting for risk, patient experience, and how each hospital helps patients get back home. The Valley Hospital from 2020 to now. July 15, 2026 This year, The Valley Hospital will celebrate 75 years since its opening day, on August 8, 1951. To memorialize Valley's history over the past seven decades, we are reflecting on the organization's major milestones. In 2020, Valley's heroic staff responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, offering support and care to thousands of patients as wave after wave of the virus impacted our community. After the COVID-19 vaccine arrived, Valley's newly established vaccine centers vaccinated more than 200,000 adults and children. Valley also celebrated its topping out ceremony for The Valley Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey, in which the final structural steel beam was placed. In 2021, Valley announced that the iconic mural, titled "The World," created by Polish artist Stefan Knapp, which was proudly once displayed on the side of Alexander's department store in Paramus, would be returning to its hometown. Panels from the mural would be displayed in different locations across the new hospital campus. Valley Medical Group, in partnership with the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital, opened its first general and specialty pediatrics practice in Montvale, New Jersey, in 2022. In 2026, a second location opened in Wayne, New Jersey. The Valley Hospital also welcomed a record-breaking 4,000 babies in a single year in 2022. In 2023, Valley Health System, in partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, announced the establishment of Graduate Medical Education with two residency programs in internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. The first class of residents started in 2024. Since then, surgery was added as an additional residency in 2024, and in 2027, Valley will launch three new fellowship programs in cardiovascular disease; hematology and medical oncology; and hospice and palliative care medicine. Robert Brenner, MD, MMM, FACHE, was announced as President of Valley Health System in 2024 and later Chief Executive Officer, replacing long-serving President and CEO Audrey Meyers, who retired. On April 14, 2024, The Valley Hospital moved from Ridgewood to Paramus in a single day. Staff volunteered and celebrated as patients were moved and ribbon cuttings took place throughout the hospital to commemorate the opening of the new location.
