About the Role

A marketplace can grow if there is a balance between supply and demand. Selection is the key differentiating factor which will bring more eaters to the platform and create a flywheel effect of encouraging more merchants to stay and grow with Uber. The team’s mission is to improve selection from both eater and merchant lens by executing on strategic growth and profitability levers which will keep the flywheel moving and create the network effect.

What the Candidate Will Need

---- Basic Qualifications ----

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Experience using one of the following: (e.g. Go, Java, Python, C++ or C)
• Experience with writing, releasing, and maintaining distributed backend code
• Experience working with web and mobile engineers and building APIs that they can use.
• Experience analyzing a feature in production using analytics and experiments

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

• 8-years full-time Software Engineering work experience
• Product engineering
• Scalability engineering
• Distributed systems
• Experience in consumer search space
• Experience in working closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Designers.
• Experience in fixing production issues

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year.
