Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses and six years of experience directing professional accounting, auditing, or finance employees.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to perform job functions in an upright, seated, and walking or mobile position.
  • Ability to work indoors and occasionally in confined or cramped spaces.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, squat, fully use both hands and arms, and perform repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions.
  • Ability to reach in all directions and maintain good finger dexterity and tactile sensory function.
  • Ability to lift, carry, lower, push, and pull objects weighing up to 15 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to maintain corrected 20/40 vision, recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, discriminate between colors, determine depth perception, and maintain good peripheral vision.
  • Ability to hear and understand conversations and perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
Responsibilities
  • Serve in a leadership role in two annual budget development processes by collaborating with the Director of Business Services, Facilities leadership, and university and healthcare Finance departments.
  • Identify upcoming operational and full-time-equivalent financial needs and growth expectations by reviewing historical trends, budget usage, and projections.
  • Prepare budget materials for annual budget presentations.
  • Monitor budget to actual results monthly, identify variances and trends, and provide monthly variance analysis to the Director of Business Services and facilities management leadership.
  • Meet with the Director of Business Services to stay informed about budget activities, billing activities, and issues.
  • Monitor budgets and proactively address accounts trending unfavorably.
  • Manage account reconciliations and compare budget to actual results in financial and accounting systems.
  • Perform customized financial analysis, including budget projections and analysis of actual activity.
  • Identify, track, report, and promptly resolve financial reporting issues.
  • Prepare accurate forecasts and budget variance analyses and present the data in a financial model for department leadership.
  • Coordinate, compile, and distribute monthly, mid-year, and year-end financial data to department leadership.
  • Develop and prepare reports using reporting and analysis tools to support budget preparation, monitoring, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Maintain financial data integrity across the healthcare system by identifying, tracking, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Supervise assigned staff and oversee daily performance, coaching, training, and annual performance appraisals.
  • Oversee billback and utility services activities, including monthly billing and calculation and submission of shared-services charges between university and healthcare budgets.
  • Oversee submission of Intercompany Service Delivery documents and journal entries and ensure accurate billing and repayment by customers.
  • Ensure monthly utility payments are made on time and investigate and resolve utility anomalies and fees.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Contracts Managers to ensure service contracts are administered and billed to the appropriate entity.
  • Periodically audit billing chargebacks and utility payments for accuracy and compliance with internal processes.
  • Communicate budget status, variances, reimbursements, and issues to business services leadership and other organizational stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with university and healthcare accounting personnel on financial procedures and processes.
  • Identify efficiencies and process enhancements to streamline operations.
  • Serve as secondary or delegated approver for requisitions, journal entries, Intercompany Service Delivery documents, timecards, leave, and related transactions when the Director of Business Services is absent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
