Finish Line donates big at Build-A-Bike(R) event in Indianapolis. To celebrate their annual Saturday volunteer event this year, The Finish Line Youth Foundation gathered Fifty employees for a Build-A-Bike(R) charity team building event in Indianapolis, Indiana. Teams competed through challenges, assembled 20 bicycles, and donated all of them to the Moorhead Community Resource Center. The event reflects the Foundation's consistent commitment to direct community engagement in Indianapolis. The Finish Line Youth Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Indianapolis-based athletic retailer Finish Line. The Foundation focuses on youth and families in underserved communities, with national partnerships with Special Olympics, Feeding America, 100 Black Men of America, and Girls Inc. The Far Eastside of Indianapolis is a particular geographic priority for the organization. Finish Line Youth Foundation annual volunteer day includes amazingly purposeful Build-A-Bike(R) event in Indianapolis. Choosing a Saturday for a volunteer event signals something about an organization's culture. The Finish Line team did not build this into a conference or a required workday, they set a day aside for community, and 50 people showed up. In the Build-A-Bike(R) format, teams compete through a series of challenges to earn the components needed to assemble a finished bicycle. Fifty people sorted into teams and got to work, navigating puzzles and tasks that require coordination to complete efficiently. The format surfaces team dynamics quickly, who communicates clearly, who steps into leadership, who figures out the puzzle fastest. Twenty bikes came together by the end of the afternoon. All 20 went to the Moorhead Community Resource Center, an organization serving Indianapolis families. Twenty bikes in one afternoon from a team of 50 is a meaningful result. The Finish Line Youth Foundation has made giving back to Indianapolis a consistent practice, not an occasional gesture. This event fits that pattern exactly. Looking for a charity team building activity for your company's volunteer day in Indianapolis? A Build-A-Bike(R) event gives teams a competitive, hands-on way to spend the day, and every bike goes directly to a family that needs it.
In the past six years, JD Sports has acquired three smaller U.S. retailers: Finish Line in 2018 for $558 million; Shoe Palace in 2020 for $325 million; and DTLR in 2021 for $495 million.
