Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience responding to and supporting mental health needs
  • Knowledge of current research, trends, and best practices related to non-clinical case management programs and services
  • Knowledge of the University environment and culture with the ability to work collaboratively with on and off-campus partners, including faculty
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, and regulations and their application in professional practice
  • Skill in managing competing demands and navigating complex emergent situations with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and urgent needs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and cultivate care, engagement, and collaboration among students, instructors, staff, and community partners who reflect the diverse identities present within the university community
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively assist and support a large and diverse caseload of individuals who are involved in or impacted by personal crisis, mental health concerns, trauma, and other disruptive or distressing life events through one-on-one meetings, referrals, service coordination, and other supportive interventions provided with care and sensitivity
  • Ability to manage confidential/sensitive information and situations with diplomacy and demonstration of excellent critical thinking and sound judgement
  • Availability and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed to meet the responsibilities and operational needs of the position
Responsibilities
  • Serve as UA Cares Case Manager within the Office of the Dean of Students portfolio and report directly to the Director for UA Cares
  • Assist in efforts to put students first and provide advocacy and support services that increase student engagement, success, retention/persistence, and graduation
  • Lead nonclinical student case management and develop and implement long- and short-term response plans to address a wide range of student experiences and concerns including basic needs insecurity, physical and mental health, adjustment concerns, student safety, academic, personal/family crisis, and integration into campus life
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide students who may be experiencing difficulty and are unable to access services and needed resources
  • Lead department initiatives and associated assessment efforts related to ongoing development and maintenance of comprehensive resources including referral agencies, other on campus offices/departments, and other relevant resources for students
  • Serve on various committees and have some after-hours responsibilities
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in student development, higher education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Higher education experience working with college age population
