Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in consumer insights, data analysis, or audience research, preferably within sports, entertainment, or media industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead segmentation, primary research, and qualitative insight workstreams from start to finish.
  • Proven track record of leading market research projects and strategic insights to drive results.
  • A strategic approach with the ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.
  • Expertise in research tools and methods, including focus groups, surveys, clustering, personas, and concept testing.
  • Proven ability to assess when to conduct research in-house versus outsourcing, with experience managing external research vendors, agencies, or consultants to deliver high-impact insights.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Suite. Familiarity with Tableau or other BI tools is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Business, or a related field.
  • Travel may be required on rare occasions (< 5% travel).
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of market research initiatives—including but not limited to segmentation studies, focus groups, and surveys — across Brooklyn Nets, NY Liberty, Long Island Nets, and Barclays Center.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to key collaborators, presenting research findings and offering guidance on strategic direction.
  • Develop clear, actionable insights from data and research that directly inform business strategies and enhance fan engagement efforts.
  • Build and implement research methodologies to understand trends, consumer preferences, and emerging opportunities.
  • Own the end-to-end strategy for survey-based research, including survey design, methodology, distribution, analysis, and reporting; provide guidance and best practices to internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality data collection and actionable insights.
  • Serve as the lead authority on fan personas and behavioral insights across BSE properties.
  • Lead brand health tracking and sentiment analysis efforts, combining qualitative and quantitative inputs to assess audience perception, measure marketing effectiveness, and guide brand strategy.
  • Partner cross-functionally with functions like Marketing, Sales, and Arena Operations to ensure audience understanding informs the customer experience.
  • Assess global market trends and international fan behaviors to inform audience growth and property positioning across regions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, overseeing project scope, delivery timelines, and research outcomes.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that surface key insights and KPIs to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and champion emerging trends in fan behavior, consumer research, and the sports/entertainment landscape.
  • Explore and apply emerging AI tools and technologies to enhance market research capabilities, accelerate insight generation, and uncover deeper patterns in audience behavior and sentiment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other business intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Strong visual storyteller and presenter, particularly in synthesizing data into clear, business-friendly insights.
  • Proficient in leveraging research technologies and tools to optimize workflows; experienced in integrating qualitative and quantitative methodologies within a robust technical infrastructure to generate meaningful insights and business value.
  • Experience working directly with marketing, brand, or ticketing teams in a strategic advisory capacity.
  • Strong project manager with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
