Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline. An advanced degree (e.g., Master of Science) is preferred but not required. Enterprise experience is the most relevant factor.
  • Excellent software engineering and product architecture/design foundation with deep understanding of Business Context Diagrams (BCD), sequence/activity/state/Entity-Relationship/Data-Flow Diagrams, object-oriented programming/object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, code instrumentation, and messaging patterns (e.g., routing, transformation, construction, channel, endpoint, adapter, sequencing).
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of proven experience with programming languages, technologies, and frameworks such as Python, C#, Java, Node.js, Golang, .NET Core, XML/JSON, REST/SOAP/GraphQL, SQL/NoSQL, single sign-on/multi-factor authentication, and unit testing frameworks.
  • Ten (10) or more years of hands-on experience with building and scaling highly available, resilient distributed systems using cloud-native integration services on one or more hyper-scalers like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform (e.g., API Gateways, Message Brokers, Queuing Services, Workflow Automation & Orchestration, ETL/ELT, Event Streaming, Real-Time Data Processing, Service Mesh).
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience with defining and driving engineering key performance indicators, implementing engineering maturity models, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in building production systems using cloud native Agentic AI services with right observability and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational transformation and drive adoption of modern engineering practices at scale, including cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing diverse engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Deep understanding of methodologies and tools such as Extreme Programming, Lean, Scaled Agile Framework, DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Azure DevOps, GitHub, SonarQube, CAST, etc., to deliver high-quality products rapidly.
  • Strong understanding of secure by design, privacy, and compliance requirements in enterprise software engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience aligning engineering initiatives with business and customer value, delivering measurable outcomes in agile environments.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Vision and Alignment: Accountable for defining, communicating, and continuously refining a compelling engineering vision that translates business objectives into actionable strategies. Ensure engineering teams are aligned and engaged, collaborating closely with product, experience, delivery, infrastructure, and security teams. Leverage technical artifacts and feedback loops to illustrate and evolve the vision.
  • Advocacy and Technology Roadmap: Champion the integrated engineering strategy and technology roadmap, ensuring organizational awareness of objectives, KPIs, maturity, and compliance. Promote a culture of reuse, quality, and speed to maximize outcomes. Actively engage and energize teams around the engineering vision and its alignment with business and technology goals.
  • Craft Mastery and Objectives Realization: Define and drive achievement of engineering KPIs, including system performance, scalability, security, and maintainability. Maintain and evolve engineering dashboards (planning, code quality, CI/CD, performance, security, operations). Contribute hands-on to design and code, mentor engineers, and resolve technical challenges. Inspire teams to adopt new technologies and best practices, fostering a passion for engineering excellence.
  • Capability Evolution and Development: Being an engineering expert, mentor and develop full-stack engineering talent in modern practices such as frontend, microservices, cloud-native design, AI/ML/GenAI, data engineering, DevSecOps, and advanced deployment techniques like Blue-Green, Canary to minimize down-time, enabling A/B testing approaches. Lead by example through thought leadership—speaking at conferences, publishing, R&D, or collaborating with academia. Cultivate a growth mindset and modern engineering behaviors across the team.
  • Iterative Value Delivery: Embrace an iterative and incremental product development, favoring action, prioritizing rapid learning, and adaptation over extensive upfront planning. Apply leaning-forward approach and empirical methods to navigate complexity, ensuring each iteration delivers value and aligns with customer and business needs.
  • Customer-Centric Problem Solving: Maintain a relentless focus on solving the most critical customer challenges. Align technical solutions with business outcomes, minimize unnecessary complexity, and drive teams toward high performance through continuous learning and collaborative execution.
  • Tech/Quality Risk Management: Establish and evolve engineering standards, coding practices, and quality benchmarks to ensure robust, secure, and scalable solutions. Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring operational excellence and resilience.
  • Influential Communication: Influence, persuade, and drive decision-making processes. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms. Craft clear, structured arguments and technical trade-offs, supported by evidence.
  • Organizational Engagement and Collaboration: Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization, from team members to middle management to executives. Build collaborative and constructive relationships, co-creating and driving momentum and value across multiple organizational levels.

AI forces companies to rethink hiring practices as job applications surge and entry-level pipelines shrink

Business Insider convened 15 HR and C-suite leaders in Davos to discuss how AI is reshaping hiring and talent pipelines. The roundtable, presented by Indeed, revealed growing concerns about entry-level positions and skills assessment. Deloitte's Elizabeth Faber emphasised maintaining a "human-led, technology-powered" approach whilst carefully navigating reduced junior hiring. TCW's Melissa Stolfi noted her firm has downsized its analyst class but maintains a pyramid structure to preserve apprenticeship culture and future leadership pipelines. Indeed's chief economist Svenja Gudell warned that whilst tech employers now demand five-plus years' experience, this creates future talent shortages if junior hiring continues declining. Salesforce's Nathalie Scardino said her company receives two million applications annually and has shifted focus from years of experience to learning aptitude. Manpower Group's Becky Frankiewicz noted AI can process candidates faster whilst reducing bias, potentially unlocking opportunities beyond traditional qualifications.

Deloitte to hire 50,000 employees in India, eyes Mangaluru expansion

Deloitte plans to hire 50,000 employees in India and is evaluating Mangaluru, Karnataka, as a potential new location, according to South Asia CEO Romal Shetty. The company currently employs 140,000 people in India, representing one in four Deloitte employees globally. Shetty said India hosts 50% of all global capability centres worldwide, with significant growth potential in Tier II and Tier III cities. He proposed creating digital economic zones integrating GCCs, GPU-based data centres, startups and academic institutions to accelerate expansion. The CEO called for streamlining GCC setup processes from six months to two weeks, whilst acknowledging infrastructure constraints around energy and water for data centres. Shetty noted Mangaluru offers advantages including talent availability and real estate, adding the company's presence there is a matter of timing.
