Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor’s degree (BSN).
  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and directs patient care ensuring standards of quality, service and safety are met within the philosophy and objectives of the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Acts as the day-to-day Associate Nurse Manager and directly supervises the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective clinical operations and outcomes.
  • Assists management with strategic operations of the unit, conducts staff meetings, and completes performance improvement processes.
  • Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Oversees daily operations of the nursing unit and personnel.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed per entity standard, and assumes 24/7 responsibility when needed.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Leaders in formulating and implementing short- and long-term goals aligned with organizational priorities and monitors nursing care and documentation to ensure Standards of Practice are followed.
  • Reports issues or concerns timely and informs leaders of unusual patient or staff occurrences, staffing changes, patient acuity or complexity, and potential risk-related incidents.
  • Develops roles and responsibilities of direct reports, fostering a culture of talent management and development within the area of specialty.
  • Identifies, develops, and retains high potential employees through delegation, stretch assignments, supervision, and educational programs.
  • Encourages nursing staff to advance through the Professional Development program.
  • Monitors productivity and flexes appropriately to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Improves employee engagement through collaboration, holds staff accountable, conducts one-on-one meetings, and acknowledges performance.
  • Participates in corrective action processes and enforces policies fairly and consistently.
  • Supports Process Improvement philosophies and aligns departmental goals to PI initiatives.
  • Develops quality improvement and PI processes to ensure safe, quality patient outcomes and implements Evidence-Based Best Practices; participates in at least one policy or process improvement committee.
  • Routinely rounds on patients, monitors bedside handoffs, and ensures staff responsiveness to call lights.
  • Establishes and assesses internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures, ensuring staff training on controls and policy.
