Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, or Operations Management, or equivalent experience in a related field, is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience as a manager or supervisor in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrable project management experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a lean, system-driven manufacturing environment, including assessing maintenance processes, prioritizing gaps, creating improvement plans, training, coaching, monitoring key performance indicators, and sustaining desired performance.
  • Experience utilizing and optimizing a computerized maintenance management system is required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, programmable logic controllers, utilities, and boilers are required.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and regulatory compliance guidelines and handle abstract and concrete variables.
  • Demonstrable leadership competencies, including driving results, managing vision and purpose, decision quality, building effective teams, action orientation, managerial courage, strategic agility, and priority setting, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Execute the plant-specific vision and mission to ensure consistent operations, continuous improvement, corporate alignment, and safe, controlled activities.
  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining Progressive Maintenance programs, including Breakdown Analysis and Defect Handling, with accountability for program effectiveness.
  • Monitor the Defect Handling tracker, ensure timely corrective actions and triggered Breakdown Analyses are completed, establish health checks, ensure system adherence, and report metrics to the site Leadership Steering Team.
  • Lead projects involving the redesign and installation of processing and packaging assets on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Assess Progressive Maintenance Systems, including Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, Planned Maintenance Optimization, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, and the storeroom, and execute a prioritized improvement plan with objectives, dates, ownership, and key performance indicators.
  • Train and coach employees on Lean Continuous Improvement processes and tools related to Progressive Maintenance, Defect Handling, Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, Breakdown Analysis, and Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Analyze equipment and line downtime data, define opportunities based on business needs, and lead cross-functional teams in identifying root causes and corrective actions to improve reliability.
  • Define skill requirements for maintaining critical equipment, assess resource gaps, and develop a prioritized training plan with cross-functional support.
  • Manage buildings and grounds to maintain good manufacturing practices and a professional appearance.
  • Direct the Maintenance and Engineering Team, including programmable logic controller technicians, reliability technicians, and mechanics, to meet plant objectives for environment, safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting, problem solving, and maintenance repair to maximize efficiency and limit downtime.
  • Collaborate with Finance to create and execute maintenance and capital budgets, manage department costs within budget, and initiate cost-saving measures including capital projects.
  • Ensure appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
  • Participate in the Steering Team to drive employee engagement, training, development, safety, quality, manufacturing, and productivity goals.
  • Plan and direct departmental work; manage direct-report performance, recognition and discipline, feedback, complaints, and problem solving.
  • Promote a safe and positive work environment and enforce food safety and quality standards under SQF, BRC, OSHA, FDA, and EPA requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Food industry maintenance management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a similar application is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations is preferred, with FDA and SQF/BRC experience a plus.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement Programs, including Leadership, Organization Capability, Focused Improvement, Progressive Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, Early Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Safety, is desirable.

Winland Foods to invest $38.5 million in pasta facility. 04.14.2026 ST. LOUIS - Food manufacturer Winland Foods Inc. is investing $38.5 million to expand its pasta production plant in South St. Louis, according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED). Under the project, Oak Brook, Ill.-based Winland plans to boost its manufacturing capacity and flexibility at the facility for making and packaging jumbo shell products, including the addition of production lines and rail car access, the Missouri DED said. Besides jumbo shells, the plant at 611 E Marceau St. in St. Louis produces egg pasta and manicotti. "This investment will add significant capacity to our local facility," said Bob Chapin, technical operations manager for Winland Foods and previously the manager for the St. Louis plant. "Our passion for producing high-quality food starts with our manufacturing process, and here in St. Louis, we have all the ingredients for success. We look forward to continued growth here moving forward." Expanded production at Winland's St. Louis plant is expected to go into operation this fall, the Missouri DED said. The investment will create 25 new jobs at the facility, which currently has more than 100 employees. "Winland Foods' $38.5 million investment and 25 new jobs demonstrate continued confidence in the economic advantages that have made our state a leading business destination," said Michelle Hataway, director of the Missouri DED. "Team DED is proud to support this growth, which will generate lasting economic impact and continue to help Missourians prosper in the St. Louis region." Overall, Winland operates 17 production facilities, including 14 in the United States, 1 in Canada and 2 in Italy. Serving the retail, private label and foodservice markets, Winland fields a meal preparation-focused product line, including pasta, sauces, syrups, dressings, jams and jellies, pie fillings, pita chips, dry dinners, dry baking ingredients and plant-based protein.
