AbCellera Biologics helps other companies and research teams find and develop antibody therapies. It uses a proprietary technology platform to identify antibody candidates and collaborates with pharmaceutical and biotech partners to accelerate drug discovery and development. The company's products are the antibody candidates and discovery services it provides under licensing or collaboration agreements, as well as its own internal therapeutic programs. Unlike many competitors, AbCellera emphasizes tackling difficult drug targets and building long-term partnerships with a wide range of clients, using data-driven, multidisciplinary approaches to speed up discovery. The goal is to deliver safe, effective antibody medicines to patients by advancing partner programs and its own pipeline through discovery, licensing, and development.

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 brought $200 million equity plus over $112 million partnership upfronts.
  • Positive ABCL635 Phase 2 data opens a large non-hormonal menopause market.
  • Vertex and Jazz collaborations expand AbCellera’s TCE platform into autoimmune disease and oncology.

What critics are saying

  • ABCL635 failure would crush AbCellera’s internal pipeline and August 2026 re-rating.
  • Q2 2026 revenue fell sharply; partner fees still dominate despite $675 million liquidity.
  • Jazz and Vertex both own downstream commercialization, limiting AbCellera’s long-term economics.

What makes AbCellera Biologics unique

  • AbCellera’s proprietary T-cell engager platform won Vertex and Jazz deals in July 2026.
  • ABCL635 showed positive Phase 2 menopause data on August 10, 2026, validating internal development.
  • The company combines discovery, engineering, and early manufacturing, unlike pure fee-for-service antibody shops.

AbCellera soars 60% as ABCL635 cuts menopause hot flashes in Phase 2 trial

AbCellera Biologics' shares surged 60.3% following positive Phase 2 trial results for ABCL635, its investigational antibody for menopause treatment. A single 600mg subcutaneous dose significantly reduced frequency and severity of moderate-to-severe hot flashes versus placebo over four weeks, whilst demonstrating favourable tolerability. The results position AbCellera as an emerging competitor in the large, underserved non-hormonal menopause therapy market. The company recently completed a $200 million equity offering to fund larger trials for ABCL635 and other programmes. However, investors face substantial risks. AbCellera continues posting widening net losses and remains dependent on future milestones and product revenue. The company's investment narrative projects $27.9 million revenue by 2029, requiring a 25% yearly revenue decline from current levels.

AbCellera secures $110M in partnerships, advances hot flash treatment ahead of schedule

AbCellera Biologics reported a net loss of roughly $55 million for Q2 2026, up from $35 million in the same quarter of 2025. Total revenue dropped to approximately $4 million from $17 million year-over-year. The company completed enrollment for its phase 2 study of ABCL-635 for treating hot flashes ahead of schedule, with top-line data expected soon. Phase 1 data showed robust target engagement with a clean safety profile, including no increase in liver enzymes. AbCellera secured over $110 million in upfront cash from new T-cell engager collaborations with Vertex and Jazz Pharmaceuticals. The company maintains over $565 million in cash and equivalents, plus roughly $110 million in committed government funding, providing at least three years of runway. Research and development expenses increased by approximately $7 million year-over-year. The company missed its internal goal of advancing another programme into IND-enabling activities in the first half of 2026. AbCellera added two experienced independent directors to its board, bringing expertise in oncology, women's health, immunology, and endocrinology.
