Buildkite
Requirements
  • Proven experience writing in devtools/technical B2B with outcomes you can point to
  • Sharp editorial judgment
  • Ability to write across formats
  • Comfort working with technical reviewers, incorporating feedback without losing clarity or voice
  • Strong narrative systems thinking
  • You avoid hollow claims, protect credibility, and insist on evidence
  • You can define success and iterate based on what’s real
  • High-agency collaboration
  • Clear async communication
Responsibilities
  • Own campaign execution across priority pillars, from concept→asset plan→launch→iteration
  • Build programs that serve devs and buyers; credibility up top, clarity in the middle, conversion at the bottom
  • Create a repeatable cadence that aligns our Labs (Brand Systems + Dev Voice + GTM)
  • Establish a clear editorial strategy aligned to our strategic pillars
  • Own the editorial backlog: what we write, why it matters, what gets deprioritised, what gets refreshed
  • Create governance and standards so voice stays consistent and trust doesn’t erode
  • Write high-signal pieces that feel like contribution
  • Develop narrative threads that power campaigns, launches, sales conversations and DevRel programming
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical reviewers so output maps to dev reality
  • Convert real proof into durable assets; customer stories with teeth, engineering-led writeups, migration narratives, reliability stories
  • Partner with Content Engineering and DevRel to capture raw material and shape it into readable truth
  • Build proof packs that GTM can reuse without distorting the narrative
  • Clarify what Buildkite is, who it’s for, why it’s different and where the value lies
  • Target common friction points: eval confusion, migration anxiety, reliability doubts, and ‘why not X’ comparisons
  • Ship content that supports time-to-first-value and adoption pathways
  • Work collaboratively to package writing for distribution
  • Instrument performance with the right success signals: authority growth, share-of-voice, high-intent conversion, pipeline influence
  • Refresh and retire content with discipline; no rotting posts, no outdated claims, no drift
  • Editorial loop; backlog→brief→draft→technical review→publish→refresh
  • Proof loop; source reality→shape story→validate→ship→reuse
  • Signal loop; capture questions/objections→categorise→route→write what fixes it
  • Distribution loop; package→amplify→learn→iterate
  • Quality loop; voice standards→review gates→sampling→corrections
  • Coherence loop; align with Brand/GTM/Dev Voice→reduce narrative drift
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building an editorial program from scratch
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps and the realities of eng teams at scale
  • Experience shaping customer proof into credible stories
  • Comfort working with distribution mechanics
  • A portfolio that shows range and taste

Buildkite provides a continuous integration platform that lets software teams run CI pipelines on their own infrastructure. It helps teams build, test, and deploy code quickly by orchestrating jobs across multiple agents, with workflows defined in code and executed securely on customer-hosted systems. Builds can be parallelized and scaled across the user’s own hardware or cloud, giving users control over security, compliance, and performance while staying production-ready. Buildkite differentiates itself by offering on-premises or self-managed CI runners instead of relying solely on public cloud runners, along with a subscription-based model that includes enterprise-level support and plugins. The company aims to help development teams deliver high-quality software faster by providing reliable, scalable CI that respects an organization’s infrastructure and security requirements.

The Risks And Rewards Of Generative Ai In Software Development

Join us in Atlanta on April 10th and explore the landscape of security workforce. We will explore the vision, benefits, and use cases of AI for security teams. Request an invite here. As a 20-year veteran of writing code and as a CEO of a company that serves software developers, I had a reflexively skeptical reaction to early predictions that generative AI would eventually make most software development skills obsolete. While I’m still somewhat skeptical, my experience playing with gen AI in my daily development work has prompted me to open my aperture to what I think is possible. AI will change software development in some pretty fundamental ways, both for better and for worse. Let’s start with the positives. An end to grunt workDevelopers spend an inordinate amount of time on details like syntax and punctuation
