Requirements
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent qualification (e.g. Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering).
  • Chartered Engineer status (preferably IChemE or Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management).
  • Extensive experience in progressively senior technical roles, including leadership of complex, high-risk cross-disciplinary projects and programmes.
  • Nationally or internationally recognised subject matter expertise in clean water treatment processes and principles, including conventional and advanced treatment technologies; drinking water expertise is essential.
  • Experience in the United Kingdom Water market is essential.
  • Expert knowledge of current design codes and standards and industry best practices including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Extensive experience in design and delivery of projects with adherence to United Kingdom safety and environmental regulations, including process safety techniques such as Hazard and Operability Study, and knowledge of capital and operational costs, risk assessments, and whole life carbon assessments.
  • Commercially astute experience in shaping winning proposals and driving practice and business growth.
  • Champion continuous improvement with a track record of driving enhancements to processes, services, technical standards, and innovation across the practice.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly, anticipate challenges, persuade senior stakeholders, and navigate diverse, international, cross-cultural delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in leading treatment process design and integration within existing or new treatment processes across all design phases, including construction.
  • Experience identifying and promoting innovative solutions and challenging the status quo.
  • A proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and success across projects and the wider AtkinsRéalis Design and Advanced Technology practice.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Technical Leadership within the Clean Water Process discipline for the national Design and Advanced Technology practice.
  • Influence Design and Advanced Technology practice wide initiatives and recommend best practices to improve internal processes and services.
  • Serve as a recognised expert and technical authority in Clean Water Process Engineering across the Design and Advanced Technology practice and wider AtkinsRéalis business.
  • Provide visible representation of AtkinsRéalis’ Clean Water Process Engineering technical expertise to current and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including internal and external clients, operational staff, project teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Recommend and drive improvements to processes, services, and technical practices while ensuring robust engineering governance is consistently upheld.
  • Oversee technical input into bid proposals, define delivery strategy, and work with cross-functional teams to prepare high-quality, compliant, and competitive submissions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for cross-selling and business growth, using commercial insight to strengthen and expand client relationships and sell our value proposition.
  • Grow, develop, and manage the Clean Water Process engineering capability within the national practice, supporting talent development and succession planning.
  • Anticipate emerging business, regulatory, and technology challenges, identifying risks and opportunities early and advising senior leadership.
  • Provide strategic oversight across multiple complex, multidisciplinary projects, ensuring technical excellence, safe delivery, and alignment with client and practice objectives.
  • Work independently even in challenging situations and act as the point of escalation for the most complex technical matters.

The company completed the sale of its remaining Highway 407 interest for $2.60 billion and secured an investment-grade credit rating, enhancing financial flexibility for growth in engineering and nuclear services. Management maintained 2026 guidance for 5-7% organic revenue growth in engineering services and projected $2.50 billion in nuclear revenue. AtkinsRéalis Group, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company, reported fourth-quarter revenue of $2.9 billion, up 13% year-over-year, with full-year revenue reaching $11.0 billion, up 14%. AtkinsRéalis Services revenue increased 17% in Q4 and 16% for the full year. The company achieved diluted earnings per share from Professional Services & Project Management of $2.14 for 2025, up 80%, whilst adjusted diluted EPS reached $3.36, up 88%. Full-year operating cash flow totalled $461 million, and backlog reached a record $21.2 billion as at 31 December 2025. For 2026, AtkinsRéalis expects Engineering Services Regions organic revenue growth of 5-7% and Nuclear revenue of approximately $2.5 billion. Operating cash flow is projected at roughly $500 million.

Ferrovial is set to increase its stake in 407 ETR to 48.29% by acquiring up to 5.06% from AtkinsRéalis for [CAD]2.09 billion.
