Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience in hotel sales and event planning.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Social Tables.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage trends and the luxury hotel market.
  • A proven ability to plan and execute events effectively with strong attention to detail.
  • A post-secondary Hospitality degree or diploma.
  • Strong customer service skills and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada without employer assistance obtaining Canadian work authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Actively seek out new business opportunities for all venue spaces within the hotel.
  • Develop and execute sales campaigns with the Director of Sales and Marketing to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
  • Coordinate with clients to gather and confirm event details and ensure contractual timelines and commitments are met.
  • Organize and disseminate information to all departments through email, directives, event orders, resumes, and internal planning meetings.
  • Plan creative experiences and collaborate with the Executive Chef to curate custom menus.
  • Confirm and arrange production elements and logistics, including electrical, internet, telecommunications, audiovisual, exhibit, and third-party requirements.
  • Create floor plans that optimize space and support a memorable guest experience.
  • Finalize event setups during the planning phase to ensure venue operations and the client agree before the event.
  • Obtain food and beverage event guarantees for venues and culinary operations to manage and control labor and food costs.
  • Initiate billing procedures, establish client credit, and ensure deposits or credit applications are received with adequate information within acceptable timelines.
  • Conduct or attend daily meetings to review event contracts and accurately communicate last-minute revisions to banquets, culinary, stewarding, and the on-site audiovisual provider.
  • Comply with liquor and fire safety laws and regulations.
  • Monitor current industry trends and competitive offerings.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly departmental communication meetings, as well as divisional and operational meetings.
  • Establish business and social relationships with industry clients and partners by participating in activities that increase hotel sales opportunities.
  • Follow the guidelines and timelines in the Event Sales and Services checklist.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
