Intel's $620M equity book holds just two stocks: Mobileye and Joby Aviation

Intel's disclosed equity portfolio consists of just two stocks worth $620 million combined: Mobileye and Joby Aviation, both focused on autonomous mobility. Mobileye represents 78% of holdings at $484 million, whilst Joby Aviation accounts for the remaining $137 million. Both positions have declined significantly. Mobileye shares fell 34% over the past year, and Intel recorded a $4.07 billion restructuring charge in Q1 2026 tied to Mobileye goodwill impairment. SoftBank bets $12B on Intel to power physical AI infrastructure push

SoftBank has allocated $12.14 billion to Intel, representing 66.8% of its $18 billion US equity portfolio, according to a 13F filing from 14 August 2026. The fresh funding values the startup at $5.4bn, up from $1.3bn just eight months ago, as investors pile into companies looking to turn generative AI into products businesses will actually pay for. DST Global and Liberty Global also joined the round, alongside Tribe Capital, Smash Capital, Fifth Wall, Valor Capital, Mirae Asset Capital and NTT Docomo Ventures. Goldman invested through its Equity Growth fund. Higgsfield was founded in 2023 by former Snap executive Alex Mashrabov and Yerzat Dulat and launched its browser-based video platform in 2025. Why current Intel handhelds are so expensive. The fact that handhelds with Arc G3 chips easily cost four-figure amounts isn't solely due to the CPU. Memory and storage account for a disproportionately large portion of the cost of these devices, especially since RAM prices are currently skyrocketing anyway. A smaller chip with fewer GPU cores alone wouldn't solve the problem. To truly get below the 800-euro mark, Intel would likely have to compromise on memory configuration and build quality as well. Intel vs. AMD: the handheld market is becoming more competitive. With the Arc G3, Intel aims to take on the current market leader, AMD. Ryzen chips are currently found in virtually every major gaming handheld, from the Steam Deck to the Asus ROG Ally X, and consequently dominate the market. Intel has recently been working on its CPU roadmap on several fronts simultaneously, such as the next-but-one-generation Nova Lake, which is expected to replace Panther Lake in the future. An additional handheld chip would therefore fit well into the picture, but should be treated with the usual caution until officially confirmed. What this means for handheld buyers. Specifically, for anyone currently considering the purchase of a gaming handheld: Those who prioritize maximum GPU performance are still better off with the Arc G3 Extreme or a comparable AMD Ryzen model. On the other hand, those who mainly want to play older or less demanding games and are primarily focused on price could benefit from a more affordable Intel chip - provided the devices actually come in noticeably under the 800-euro mark and the graphics performance is still sufficient for smooth gameplay. Frequently asked questions about the affordable Intel Panther Lake chip. When will the affordable Intel handheld chip be released? The leak does not specify a concrete date. Since the regular Arc G3 series has only been shipping since June 2026, an official unveiling of the budget chip is not expected until the coming months at the earliest.
