Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical or analysis field is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, along with an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance and eligibility for TS/SCI.
  • Qualification as Submerged Officer of the Deck with at least 6 years of experience in at-sea submarine operations is required.
  • Experience communicating complex issues to executive leaders with data-driven analysis to support critical decisions is required.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as MATLAB or Python is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead risk assessments that influence the design, procurement, and employment of future submarines.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and concepts and recommend actionable solutions to mitigate operational risks.
  • Collaborate with senior Navy officers, engineers, and policymakers to turn complex data into briefings and reports.
  • Conduct future warfighting and operations scenario development and analysis.
  • Perform System of Systems Operations Analysis.
  • Analyze and model operations involving unmanned systems that work with and independently of submarines.
  • Support the government team in assessing technologies to mitigate operational risks using operational and technical experience.
  • Apply knowledge and experience of the submarine force to non-Department of Defense projects and initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's or PhD degree in Operations Research or an equivalent field.
  • Experience as a submarine Department Head or Executive Officer on an operational SSN, SSGN, or SSBN.
  • Experience in tactical operations and employment.
  • Experience applying advanced analytical techniques to solve complex problems.
  • Experience drafting technical reports, policy briefs, or briefing decks for senior stakeholders.
