Requirements
  • Must maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiography and CT
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire
  • Must maintain active accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety
  • Must be a graduate of an approved American College of Radiology school
  • Must work in a specialty location at least 80% of the time and/or take part in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation
  • Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations
  • Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment
  • Must be proficient in venipuncture
  • Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances
  • Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting and twisting
  • Must be able to work with arms above head
  • Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to assist patient to and from CT unit
  • Will be exposed to fumes from cleaning agents or x-ray film processor chemicals, in limited areas
  • Will be exposed to conditions including exposure to blood and bodily fluids, tissue, contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials
  • Occasional heavy lifting required
Responsibilities
  • Produce quality CT scans and be able to anticipate when additional imaging would be beneficial
  • Good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
  • Know the capabilities of the computer/scanner
  • Able to identify pathology and provide radiologist with accurate measurements and density readings
  • Prepare CT films for radiologist to read
  • Responsible for obtaining outside previous or comparison exams
  • Familiar with pressure injector and doses
  • Familiar with contrast material and possible reactions
  • Obtain complete patient history
  • Keep log of all patients
  • Inform all technologists working in CT of all protocols and any changes proposed by the radiologists
  • Stay current on CT procedures to provide quality service
  • Must be able to adapt to flexible working hours
  • Maintain contrast reaction boxes throughout the Radiology department
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
