  • Experience working with teenagers, young adults, individuals with disabilities, or other populations requiring support.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and build positive relationships with young people.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in schools, workplaces, and community settings.
  • Ability to complete electronic documentation accurately and on time.
  • Availability during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to meet applicable background-check and employment requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, individualized career-readiness and employment activities.
  • Teach practical job-readiness and independent-living skills.
  • Adapt instruction to each student's abilities, communication style, interests, and support needs.
  • Help students identify career goals, strengths, preferences, and potential barriers.
  • Prepare students for work-based learning experiences and provide support throughout the experience.
  • Communicate professionally with students, families, schools, employers, and vocational rehabilitation counselors.
  • Coordinate activities around school schedules and student availability.
  • Complete progress notes, service documentation, timesheets, and reports accurately and on time.
  • Follow RISE Services policies, confidentiality requirements, and vocational rehabilitation program guidelines.
  • Participate in required meetings, training, supervision, and quality-assurance activities.
  • Help students explore careers, search and apply for jobs, create resumes, practice interviewing, develop workplace skills, understand workplace expectations, explore postsecondary options, participate in workplace tours and job shadowing, and complete employment-related steps such as obtaining work permits.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in job coaching or employment services.
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or youth programming.
  • Experience in special education or behavioral support.
  • Experience in career counseling or workforce development.
  • Experience in human services, social work, psychology, or rehabilitation.
  • Experience working with students who have Individualized Education Programs or Section 504 Plans.
  • Experience coordinating workplace experiences or employer partnerships.
  • Experience with Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services or Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services services.
