Requirements
  • Broadcast technical experience, preferably within public media
  • Knowledge of standard audio testing practices with broadcast equipment, automation, and procedures
  • Familiarity with radio/broadcasting/audio and electrical engineering terminology, automated audio reproduction, recording & switching systems and RF transmission systems preferred
  • Significant troubleshooting in audio broadcast technologies
  • Ability to operate digital consoles in a time sensitive on-air broadcast studio or technical support environment
  • Proficiency with content management systems and operations
Responsibilities
  • Creating/modifying automation schedules and monitoring switchers, routers, computers and other hardware in a live and time-driven environment
  • Escalating potential equipment/off air issues to the attention of support teams and management
  • Operating all technical equipment within the NOC, including broadcast automation equipment and satellite, IP and RF transmission and monitoring equipment
  • Collaborating as a key member of a Tiered Help Desk, providing exemplary customer service and troubleshooting steps
  • Utilizing a ticketing system to ensure full resolution
  • Scheduling, connecting, and routing audio over a variety of IP audio codecs, including Comrex, Z/IP, and GatesAir
  • Monitoring and documenting hourly tasks and findings for information-sharing across day parts
  • Performing basic preventive maintenance and operational tests, and reporting unresolved problems to relevant parties and support teams
  • Ensuring file-based programs delivered through our system meet continuity, quality, and completeness standards, and reporting any discrepancies to management and working with the producer/distributor of the program for resolution
  • Creating and delivering system messages to various parties via multiple channels, including email and Slack
Desired Qualifications
  • An existing background in broadcast services, particularly content delivery and network content management systems is a plus
  • Teamwork, adaptability, professionalism and an evolving growth mindset are desired skill sets

Fort Lewis College Tribal Water Media Fellowship Program Awarded Grant From Walton Family Foundation

Following the positive outcomes of the first program in 2023, the grant is set to back more fellows in 2024WASHINGTON, April 3, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The Walton Family Foundation today announced a second grant to the Tribal Water Media Fellowship Program. The program supports the development of the next set of Indigenous storytellers. Students awarded fellowships will research, create and present media projects related to water and its impacts on Indigenous communities."The students in our first cohort demonstrated amazing creativity in exploring the issues affecting Indigenous communities and unpacking complex topics to broad audiences," said Kaitlin Mattos, interim director of the center and an assistant professor of environment and sustainability at FLC. "We're very thankful for the Walton Family Foundation's partnership in this program and thrilled about the impactful projects to come."The Tribal Water Media Fellowship is a joint effort between Fort Lewis College, KSUT Public Radio and Rocky Mountain PBS. It is housed at the Four Corners Water Center at Fort Lewis College.The grant will help fund the program's 2024 fellows as they engage in a two-week summer intensive.
