  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate is required
  • A current Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with no violations is required
  • Working knowledge of FAR 145, 91, and 43 is required
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write information, and complete simple forms is required
  • Basic PC software skills such as spreadsheet, word processing, and database usage are required
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Level 1 starting pay; zero to one year of work-related experience as an A&P is required
  • Level 2 starting pay; two to three years of work-related experience as an A&P is required, or zero to one year of work-related experience as an A&P is required if the candidate has earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Science (or similar degree)
  • Level 3 starting pay; three to five years of work-related experience as an A&P is required, and Repair Station Inspectors (I) designation
  • Level 4 starting pay; five or more years of work-related experience as an A&P is required, current Repair Station Inspectors (I) designation is required, a thorough working knowledge of FAR 145, 91 and 43 is required, supervisory and people management skills are required, and current FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) is desired
Responsibilities
  • Perform authorized maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding, and alterations and return to service university aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturers’ requirements, and the highest quality industry standards
  • Provide oversight through management, senior technicians, and mentors to develop autonomy of responsibilities to ERAU standards
  • Accomplish scheduled maintenance and respond to unscheduled maintenance requirements
  • Support and assist the Shift Manager in the accomplishment of the overall maintenance effort
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance on all University aircraft on ERAU flight line including weekends and holidays
  • Report defective shop equipment or equipment requiring certification to the Shift Manager
  • Complete all necessary entries in appropriate maintenance forms, work orders, internal inspection forms, malfunction and defect reports, and aircraft logbooks while under supervision
  • Become familiar with the requirements of the FAA approved inspection program, FAA regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance, airworthiness directives, advisory circulars, manufacturers' service bulletins and engineering orders/drawings
  • Learn to properly document all parts, appliances, and materials used in the maintenance of aircraft
  • Assist Shift Manager in inventory control functions
