  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • A medical degree and two years of direct or internship experience are required.
  • A current and unrestricted Michigan medical license as an MD or DO is required.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration licensure and a current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration are required.
  • The physician must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and proper telephone etiquette.
  • Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families.
  • Determine required referrals based on examination findings and patient needs.
  • Determine the urgency of follow-up, referral, and consultation appointments.
  • Exercise final medical judgment in healthcare matters.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
  • Document all services in the patient medical record.
  • Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education.
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by hospital or clinic requirements.
  • Oversee assigned mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff.
  • Assist in resolving patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide customer service consistent with the organization's mission, values, and standards.
